Hi there.
I'm about to ship out to Korea next week, and I just wanted to know if there are any american Over-the-counter medications that aren't allowed in S. Korea?
I've been searching the web to no avail -- I'm mostly thinking of Nyquil, Dayquil, and other cold-type medicine.
Can I get a confirmation on this?

| I believe you can bring any of that stuff there. You can even bring prescription drungs given your name is on them.. |

I don't know about that..does america still sell that one that has ephedrine or something in it? I know its confiscated at the Canadian border if they find it.
You might not be okay to bring that into Korea, I'm not sure if Ephedrine is controlled here. |

Sudafed. Pseudoephedrine HCL. It's OTC here. It's OTC in the US, but you have to show ID. |

No not sudafed. There is another one.. I think maybe its a headache medacine.. I feel like it starts with an "A" but I'm not sure since we don't have it in Canada. It apparently works very good on headaches and some Canadians have tried to get it in the states, but when they try to bring it back across its always confiscated. |

| I know some states ask for an ID on Robitussin as it has DXM in it, and people abuse it. Maybe that is what you are thiking of? |

No, it was Aleve. I remember now some friends liked it, but it confiscated at the border. Its OTC in the US but prescription in Canada, its Naproxen not ephedrine. Just because something is OTC in one country doesn't mean its OTC in other countries. You need to check individual drugs before you try to take them across the border. |

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the replies. Seems like I have nothing to worry about with my OTCs-- it's a good thing cause I NEED my nyquil and dayquil when I get sick! |

No I meant Aleve. Aleve was finally permitted in Canada this past summer, prior to that it was a controlled substance that was OTC in the US.
here is a 2 year old yahoo question about someone having it confiscated (even though they managed to confuse themselves)

They don't always confiscate it, but if you happen to get searched or something before it was made OTC here, they might have taken it. same deal with going into korea. you might be able to bring in stuff that is illegal here if they don't notice it, but if they do, you could be in trouble, especially if you were bringing a years supply. |
