|

I applied to SMOE through a recruiter about six weeks ago. Does anyone know when we should hear if we've been accepted or not. If you don't hear back does that mean you haven't been accepted?
Thanks.

Wow! This thread is on fire. Could everyone settle down a little bit and let other people have their say.
One at a time please.

No. I've heard nothing about an interview. |

Have you asked your recruiter? They should know. Many people had their interviews in November. |

So no interview..hmm...you haven't even passed the first stage. How are you then supposed to know if you've been accepted to SMOE without an interview? |

If you haven't gotten a phone interview, you aren't hired. Not until you've received/returned/received your contract that is signed by both SMOE and you, are you at the 75% solution mark.
Even after signing the contract there is the possibility that they've over hired teachers and you could still get cut.

Yep, there was a huge overhire by SMOE last hiring season and hundreds of people got her to find out they had no job. |

Yep, then they turned around and blamed 'foreigners' for the problem. |

It was not "hundreds" of teachers who came to Korea, it was about 40 or 50. There were another 60 to 70 who were told about 3 weeks before they were due to leave for Korea.
They did not turn around and blame the foreigners, they did make a side door comment that teachers who change their minds at the last second either way do not help the situation.
It was still a stupid fumble on SMOEs part, but people seem to add inflation to the numbers, and say they blamed a group when they didn't. |

I knew of at least 3 individuals who left the orientation 2 days into it. |
