Usually I don't mind The Barenaked Ladies but that song Take it Easy is absolutely dreadful.
Also, I'm Sorry by Buckcherry. |

| The 70s had some annoying joke songs, like short people and tiptoe through the tulips. I suppose they weren't really meant to be good songs. They would have been incredibly annoying to hear over and over again on the radio though. |

"This is Not a Love Song" by PIL.
The first album by PIL was good then it just went downhill.
Baba Oriely by The Who. Anything by the Who that appears on CSI. |

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. Dun Da Dun Da Dun Da Da Dun. Click. Vivaldi Spring. Why is Spring the most famous? Winter and Autumn are so much better.
Nessun Dorma when done in a movie. Invariably it involves some sniper/Meglomaniac Bond-type villain. Why is Opera reserved for techno-thrillers now?
Shinhwa's 'T.O.P.' S.E.S.'s 'Love', Fin.K.L.'s 'Now'.
And yes, 'We Built This City' does conquer all.
A shout out to Ronnie James Dio- The King of the Good Bad Song. "Night People" is close to Starship level, but at least you laugh when you hear Dio wail "Niiiiggghhhhtttt Peeeeoooooppppllllllle" |

How about these two......'The Girl is Mine'/McCartney & Michael Jackson, and 'To All the Girls I've Loved Before'/Julio Englasius & Willy Nelson. Cloying sentimental MOR pop treacle drivel that any human being in his or her right mind would be ashamed to put their name to. Hearing M.Jackson croon ".......I'm a lover not a fighter", is the most cringe-inducing moment in pop music history bar none, (or none that come to mind anyway).
'We Built This City' does come a close third however.....lol. |

It seems to be a consensus that that was the worst first single off of any album in history. I mean, from f***ing Thriller?! And they release "The Girl Is Mine"? Are you kidding me? In lieu of ANY OTHER TRACK? What were they thinking!? |

| I especially hate "Kum Bah Yah." I got a pretty severe whipping as a child for absolutely refusing to sing it or do the ultramoronic sign language along with it at a church when I was around six years old. |

ABBA - Dancing Queen
Nothing against the band personally, but when you grow up going to the Saturday and Sunday public free skates at the local arena, and they have only the one record to play on repeat for the entire two hours the free skate is available, every day the free skate is available, for the 5-6 years I attended those free skates.... that is a lot of Dancing Queen to take in.
Even 25+ years later, I get an uncontrollable facial tic whenever I hear the song. |

It was McCartney. Without Lennon he just writes the most treacly, sentimental shmaltz. He needed Lennon to even get close to the edge.
So many songs, but all I can think of now is Ray Charles version of What a Wonderful World. Kills me. Just kills me. Overplay for sure.
Oh, by the way, great thread! |

The height of McCartney's song-writing talent can be summed up with:
Someone's knockin' at the door
Somebody's ringin' the bell
Someone's knockin' at the door
Somebody's ringin' the bell
Do me a favor,
Open the door and let 'em in
Musical genius, that. |
