|

In the middle of February, the last three straight days have been a balmy blue sky +20 C here on Geoje Island, an hour south of Busan, at a place where snow comes once a year and doesn't stay on the ground.
I keep telling people back in Canada that there are mosquitoes and warm weather in February in parts of South Korea, despite the Siberian-like snow and cold in northern areas. Even expats in Seoul sometimes forget about the warmer regions of the country. Yes, it snows on Jeju, especially on Hallasan, but the southernmost area isn't always the warmest, guys!
It's silly how simplistic people's attitudes toward weather patterns can be.
I've spent several winters in the Canadian prairie province of Alberta and people think Brrrrr. Calgary can be minus-30 C, yet two hours away I would be wearing shorts and a t-shirt at +17 C in Lethbridge. The warm Chinook winds off the Rocky Mountains in that area regularly provide a weather inversion.
How's the weather in your area? (I won't assume I know.) |

got back from Thailand yesterday and suprised how warm it was 17-18C, a pleasant suprise considering it was -10--15 when I left. Did read where it will be back in the single digits soon, oh well....
when I growing up in Ohio, I remember days in Feb when it was 20C and we would be sitting out having drinks in my shorts and then it would snow in April.
Of course in Texas we have a saying "if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes it'll change" I remember one afternoon I was working a soccer game it was 29C at 5P when the game started, by the time I got home at 7 it was 10C and 45 minutes later when I left for a concert it was -2C. What a change in 3 hours. We call those blue northers
Thing is despite this warm spell we still have 4 weeks of winter left at least |

Yeah, its going to break starting in a couple of days. A big high pressure system is coming which means a dramatic drop in temperatures. I think next wednesday in masan there is a max of 5 and a minimum of minus 4. Enjoy it while it lasts. |

4 weeks of weather...well I'd say about 2 weeks of under 10 degree weather anyways.
Usually the last two weeks of March are pretty good, then once April hits it gets warm. Considering May is like summer, spring here occurs pretty quickly.
I remember my last year in Canada before I came here. Spring started at the end of April and lasted till the end of May.
The thing I miss about Canadian summers: almost no mosquitos on my 24/7 like in this country. |

Yeah me too...in Gohyun, but I liked it there despite my sucky hagwon. Very isolated, that's what I liked. Beautiful scenery. A great place to go with your girlfriend. 3-4 Really nice beaches but go before August when every tourist and their dogs leaves their garbage on the beach. |

(Sigh) I guess we can surmise that the Real Reality forecast is for Seoul?
The three of us from Geoje know how different the weather can be here, usually two degrees warmer than Busan and often sunny when the rest of the nation is cloudy, and visa versa. |

I know I don't have to post here, but I think it is funny that we are discussing the weather. |
