I am applying to a teaching program in another country. The problem is, they want a criminal record check from the place I am living (which is Korea). Does anybody know anything about getting a criminal record check from a Korean police department? |

Walk into any 'gu' police office and ask for one. |

If you are in Seoul the best place to go is the Dongdaemun Police Station. It is located in the long building directly across from Seoul Station. It doesn't look much like a police station from outside, but it is. That's where you need to go. I had one done there a month ago, and a couple of years before that.
It's in Korean. So, if it's for teaching outside Korea, you might want to (somehow) get it done in English.
It takes about 15 minutes. |

Thanks for the answers, but what's a gu? And yes, it's for Spain, so it needs to be in English. I live near Ansan in Gyeonggi, so Seoul would be a long way to go for me. |

"gu" = district or area. Not small. Seoul has about 25 of them. |

What about a small town? I live in Siheung and my address doesn't have a gu in it. Would I have a gu that includes several cities? |

I've asked co-teachers, the US embassy, my regional director. Not one of them knows where I can get this done!! Why is it that such a simple thing always has to be a huge ordeal here?
I just need a criminal record check! And I need it soon!! |

Pull your finger out of your ass and listen to what people have said. Go to Seoul if you need it that badly. Ansan is not that far at all. |
