There was a girl just like you on this forum before.
She went by the name Alyssa.
You are going down the exact same road. |

Did she move to Thailand? I am going to look for a job here.
If you have any information about people working in Thailand please let me know! |

Ugh... I just went to Bangkok for a couple of days a few months ago, but I know exactly what you mean. I felt so much more free there, the atmosphere, the weather.... You native English speakers are so damn lucky Other nationalities don't get this opportunity to live anywhere you want and make a nice sum of money while you're at it |

The sum of money that you NEED to make plays a large part in it. Korea is one of the few that pays enough for those who are paying off student loads and still have enough left over to live comfortably and get a bit of travel in on the side.
Living frugally helps though, if you're determined to make it work. |

Excuse me, I know I've asked this before but are you, or have you ever been, a teacher in Korea? Or in Thailand, for that matter? Or even Asia? |

You see to be taking a stance whereby you are accusing Kikomom of something.
1. What she said is 100% accurate
2. you don't have to have been somewhere or done something to know about it.
3. One of the things that many people do on this board is hurl insults at people who 'haven't done research.' She has clearly done research or knows enough to comment from an informed position.
So I ask you.... what does it matter if she has been here or not? |

Excuse me, but I thought I asked the question rather politely. Were any insults 'hurled' as you rather over dramatically put it? I think not.
I really am curious to know if she has taught here before. She seems to give a lot of advice about Korea. Yes, some of it is good but some of it is not so good. Should she be telling newbies what to do in a classroom when she hasn't had experience in one? Give advice on difficult cultural interactions when she hasn't lived in the country? I mean, I could be wrong; maybe she's ethnically Korean, maybe she has taught in Korea before. And if I'm wrong, I apologize wholeheartedly and thank her for the time she puts in to help other people.
But surely I have the right to ask without being jumped on by the care bear brigade?
Yes, what she said is accurate if you take a very 2 dimensional view of things. I would be earning about $500 (US) more in Korea. But here I don't have to pay for food or for accomodation. I don't feel so miserable I have to drink myself into a stupor every weekend or spend cash on pointless consumer products I don't really need just to make myself feel better about my life.
So, I end up saving roughly the same amount and enjoy a lifestyle far, far better to the one I had in Korea. To say otherwise - especially without having actually lived in the country - is pretty damaging to people who are simply looking for correct and holistic information.
But hey, thanks for your input. Happy Holidays. |

Yes, thank you also for your input.
If you're implying I've got a small "pee-pee" you're absolutely correct because I'm a woman.

SPPS has more to do with one's attitude than with actual anatomy. Also, I wasn't addressing you directly. My comment was more of a general observation.
Lighten up. |

Yours,
