Everyone guessed you just wanted to know about #4 and most people are sick of people asking when the age of consent is.
Unless the student is 19 - just don't do it!! |

#4
The legal age of consent for Koreans, male or female, is 19 years of age. This can be found on Korean National Police site as well other government sites. Do not trust third party sites that state the age at 13. Even if that were the case, the standard will be different for foreigners. Perhaps Koreans can get away with the 13 age, but a foreigner will have the book thrown at them.
Now, there is some debate as to whether they mean 19 Korean age or Western age. It would appear to mean Korean age, which would translate to 18 Western age, or 17 Western age for a small population. But do you really want to take that chance? This is a highly xenophobic society where, in the context of law, foreigners are at a natural disadvantage, and one would be found guilty in a court of public opinion regardless of what happens in a court room.
In short. Don't take the chance. If she says she's 19 and in high school, just keep on walking. The youngest girl you should even consider dating is first year university. Nothing less. |

People say "19". That's not specific enough. There are two age systems in this country and if you're walking a fine line, you better know which line you're walking on. |
For legal matters, "traditional Korean" age counting is not used; "Western" or calendar age is. |

Go to the source for this. Daves, at best, is full of speculating whackjobs who Google things and then pretend they know what the hell they're talking about. |
I don't need to show you "JamesKChurch" a link...
this seems to be your THIRD post on Daves - and you accuse all the people on here of being whackjobs???
so why did you join this site?
as of now you have made a total of 7 posts (3 of them being in this thread)
and one where you said BAD things to the user "Princess"
why did you join this cafe?

Had that happen many years ago. My contract read I couldn't date my students so she just switched teachers but remained at the same school. My boss at the time knew what was going on but thankfully she didn't care.
Is it really reasonable to resist falling in love with each other when those "warm fuzzies" just won't go away? |
Is that why you wanted to know the LEGAL age? - that is the type of things that have AES and other Korean agencies cracking down on foreigners and calling us all ****** |

9. Running for public office?

I assume you mean running for office.
To run for the national assembly you must be 25 years of age.
You must be 40 years of age to run for the presidency.
I'm not sure if foreigners can run for the national assembly, but we definitely cannot run for president.
Foreigners may run for local government offices.
#9 seems to be the most important of your questions. |
