I searched the credit card post but no one seemed to be able to tell me WHERE to apply other than homeplus (which i couldn't find one)

I called that number when I applied for my card in the Summer. The guy just told me the location of the nearest Samsung Office and I had to go there.

So if you know where the nearest office is you can just take yourself there. I don't think you can apply over the phone.

I needed my ARC, bank details, work details ( include work address and phone number since they will want to confirm that you work there).

A Samsung adjumma came to our university and gave me an annoying high-pressure sales pitch, but I told her to get lost.

i called the number and they were assholes. and no, i wasn't being an ass to them at ALL.

i went to the top floor of the Shinsegae department store. there is a samsung card office, and the reps will try to sell you a shinsegae card, but you have tons to choose from. lack of info in english sucks, but one of the reps there might speak English, but they're all fighting to sell you the card, so even if the rep doesnt' speak English, she won't get the English speaking rep for you. Just request to speak to one of the younger girls that speaks decent English, and don't speak to the old ajumma - she's a pushy salesperson just like the ones back home

i ended up getting a samsung shinsegae check card, which automatically withdraws money from my bank... this way i can pay for Costco good w/o having to worry about taking cash in Costco. also, you get discounts at tons of places just by paying with a samsung card, so def. get one. take ALL your docs to them, and expect this to take some time. better to have a Korean by your side to help you though.

Costco for sure offers it at the service counter where you sign up for a membership.

What's so special about a samsung card? Why pay a fee for a card when you can get one for free? I was able to get a mastercard and maestro card directly from my bank with no annual charges. The maestro card is a debit card. It's not the best since I can't use it overseas, but my mastercard is a credit card and it works overseas. My credit card has a 5million won limit. Never had any problems using it overseas. Just my two cents for the day!!!

As of May, 2010 Samsung no longer offers its credit card to foreign teachers in Korea. Spot on.

I applied at Shinsegae last month and was approved. The card ajummah just took a pic of my ARC with her cell phone and asked me to fax her a copy of my contract and some letter from my school proving my employment. Had the card in a week. You have to work for a public school though.
