http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_airline_attack_regulations

An excerpt:

Quote:
WASHINGTON Some airlines were telling passengers on Saturday that new government security regulations prohibit them from leaving their seats beginning an hour before landing

The regulations are a response to a suspected terrorism incident on Christmas Day.

Air Canada said in a statement that new rules imposed by the Transportation Security Administration limit on-board activities by passengers and crew in U.S. airspace. The airline said that during the final hour of flight passengers must remain seated. They won't be allowed access to carryon baggage or to have any items on their laps.

No access to carryon baggage??
Travel is getting much more unpleasant. Sad

Either sedate all passengers or the stewardess can offer to striptease once the plane has ended, who'd want to kill themselves then? Oh, hang on these are American airlines, that'd turn me into a suicide bomber.

wouldnt surprise me that this whole new bomb threat was an operation from the government to impose more fear, to let Americans and the world know that AL Quida is real and we must be alert!

frankly, it just makes the airline security look even more stupid!
I mean come on.. take off your shoes now, becuase someone tried lighting a bomb from his shoes, strip searches and 3d scanners, now what?? everyone must strip down naked, walk through 3d scanners, put into white jump suits and not allowed to carry on any bagage..

friggen joke!!

why would Al quida want to blow up an airplane!???
don't believe this BS!!

Just another reason not to fly into or through the States.

I can't have my notebook with me for the last hour of a flight? WTF?

What tripped me out was the US embassy in London. The Mexican, Canadian, Greek, Argentine, and other embassies were in the same area and looked normal. As if the 70s architecture with a big metal eagle on top of the US embassy wasn't bad enough, they had these little buildings out front where people have to pass through metal detectors and an airport security style obstacle course. A lot of guards were there and one shouted at an elderly lady with a camera, "NO PICTURES!!! NOOOO PICTURES!!!!!" Rolling Eyes

They also forbid blankets 1 hours before landing and no GPS data. The flight crew are from now also forbidden to tell how far away they are from the destination. Smile

Stewardess:

"But sir, you're supposed to sit on your seat and not to listen to your iPod. What are you doing, sir? Sir, that isn't allowed. Please, don't go to the toilet now, sir. Sir?"

Last time I checked terrorists, criminals and nutjobs don't play by the rules. Heck, I am sure that many law-abiding people would have some difficulties following these stupid rules.

Er, I'd take a wild guess and say that we are 1 hour away from the destination when: A) they tell I must put my laptop away, and B) I can't go to the toilet anymore.

Stewardess sends secret code to the cockpit, pilot lifts open a box to reveal a red button. Toilet is ejected, as it parachutes down to earth it is caught by a CIA plane(you know like in Dark Knight when Batman went to Hong Kong!). CIA plane lands in Gitmo. Your plane lands a few pounds lighter. While I'm stuck in Gitmo with my diarrhoea.

You evidently become "tripped out" very easily. Most foreign consulates/embassies nomatter where they are will require the same.
