and I wish I wasn't.
Seriously, I get so depressed each time I come back...
I just spent 11 glorious days in Hong Kong with my parents, where I got to eat good food and shop in great places that were priced reasonably.
Then I came back - sans my daughter, cos she is in HK with my parents until mid-Feb - and I wish I didn't have to come back.
Doesn't help that it's so freaking cold here!!!

Unpacking is depressing, but so is living out of a suitcase. Get busy straightening up and enjoy the peace and quiet for a while. I find being alone very relaxing. Seriously, ENJOY your down time, it might even be better than a vacation.
I bet your folks are having a wonderful time with your daughter and she'll come home full of great memories and chatter to fill you in. Busy busy times. Really, enjoy the quiet while you have it. Think of it as a luxury that you deserve and thank your folks for allowing you it. They'll like being appreciated and it's worth parent points.
Do you have a pet there, Tzechik? Cats are just pesty enough to wake you out of a stupor and dogs'll get you moving to take them out for walks. Plus if you do yoga, they're great inspiration for poses and moves to loosen up creaky joints and muscles. Volunteer yourself as a pet sitter and fill your spare time relating to nature. It's a wonderful way to unwind.
Or you could hit the holiday sales, go shopping and find yourself a good book to settle into. Or just hang out online, plenty to read here. |

I find the trick is to always have some sort of social event planned for when you are getting back, especially if it requires you to be there within an hour of arriving since you will probably get dealyed and be "running late". That impatience to get somewhere will push out the feelings of depression.
Everytime I've come back from Seoul without something to look forward to I end up massively depressed. If I have something to get to/everyone's at the bar, then I'm fine.
Bringing gifts back for other people is another great way to kick the depression. |

Strangely I always look forward to going on vacation, and then look forward to coming back too. |
