Certain songs make me smile and miss my kids, others I hope never to hear again...not many of those, it was my job to mix it up and keep it fun and I think that I did a decent job of it.

Favorites: C is for Cookie, The Elephant Song, and Bounce and Twist and Flap

Least Favorite: A Whole New World (Theme song from Aladdin)

I don't really hate the Aladdin song, it brings back some good memories, but I won't be putting it on my ipod.[/list]

Raffi has been a running joke for a long time so I always assumed his songs must all be crap, but there's actually a lot that aren't too bad to use in the classroom.

British Council Kids has some REALLY good songs...

Personally, I like "Computer Mouse":

I have a little friend,
I play with every day,
His head is kind of round,
And his tail is long and grey.

But, he doesn't like cheese.
He's not afraid of cats.

Something something something,
Something something that,

He's my Computer Mou-ou-oussssee,
He's my right click, left click, double click friend,
Computer Mou-ou-ouse....

Left click! Right click! Double Click!
OK.

**** All of my students, but one, hated that song. It's a great song! The kid literally stays on his computer all day. You can see day turn to night through the window! (I think... it's been a long time since I watched it)

The Elephant Song, Green Anaconda and the counting pinball song from Sesame Street are all gems.

'I Love Little *beep*' (word for a small cat - damn the swear filtering!!!). There's nothing quite so funny as watching Korean teachers leading a class with that song.

Gawd I hated those chants. I didn't use them, but the kids were so conditioned to them that it was nearly impossible to just read them a story. They would want to repeat the lines back to me. Only when I used a video would they understand that they only needed sit and listen...and they didn't really bother then either. I had the classroom management skills of a first year teacher, imagine that!

Anyone who teaches 3rd and 4th grade elementary here will know 'How many Cows?', 'How's the weather, ding-a-ling', and the seminal classic that is 'Oh no, don't do that'.
After teaching these songs, I find myself whistling the melodies for days.

All the kids in my school (Elementary) know B-I-N-G-O. Good way to get everyone's attention and to focus especially with camps.
