I already have a mouse, hard drives, and a monitor (DSP AF2150 TFT LCD 21.5").

Onboard sound and LAN is fine. I'll probably buy a cheap keyboard.

My budget is 500,000, and I'll mostly be playing WoW. I'll dabble in Borderlands, Counterstrike, and HL2. With the exception of Borderlands, all are fairly old games so I don't need to go crazy on the video card.

Can I go wrong with a pre-built PC at Yongsan? I'd like some advice on how many watts for the psu, how much RAM and what kind (DDR2, DDR3, etc.).

I'm clueless on mobos, cpus, and video cards these days because I built my last system in 2003 with a Pentium 4 2.8GHz, 2GB DDR RAM, and an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. Things have changed. A lot.

A pre-built one from Yongsan or internet might be your best bet unless you are picky about brand-name components.

You don't need more than a 500w power supply unless you're planning to use more than one graphics card.

4GB of RAM is the sweet spot at the moment. Try to get 4GB in two sticks, not four. Then you have the option to upgrade to 8GB in the future. DDR2 800mhz RAM is the most common and cheapest at the moment.....but if your mobo supports it, and most will do, then I'd recommend 1066mhz DDR2. Your budget doesn't really allow for DDR3.

You're probably looking at a P35 or P45 Intel mobo.......unless you want to go with and AMD system.

Your budget allows around 120-150,000 for graphics card......Nvidia GT240, 9800GT, ATI 4670.....all around 120,000 or 4850 at the higher end.......around 140,000.

Browse http://www.enuri.com/ ......make a short list, and take it to Sunin Plaza in Yongsan where they will build it for you.

Oh, and if you believe in higher clock speeds on the CPU vs. 4 cores, then I'd look at the AMD 550 x2 Black Edition as a CPU for a smidge less. It's a screamer at 3.1ghz, but also has an unlocked multiplier for overclocking.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I'll be selling this on Dave's or craigslist in August since I'm going back to the states in September, and I've heard shipping is just a huge hassle. So upgradeability is not exactly a top priority for me.

Unfortunately, my Korean is not up to par enough to make much use of websites that aren't in English, so buying online is dubious, but at least I'll be able to write down the components you guys linked so when I go to Yongsan, they'll know what I'm in the range for.

Is Sunin Plaza in Yongsan the same thing as Yongsan Electronics Market or....what else do they call it..I'Park Mall? Digital Specialty Store? I picked up a netbook, Canon camera, and my LCD monitor there in September, so I was planning on going there again.

As for P35/45 Intel vs. AMD, I have zero preference whatsoever for a temporary computer like this, so I just want to get the biggest bang for my buck.

Aside from games, most of which will be World of Warcraft, I'll do some video editing and all the regular computer things like listening to music, watching movies, surfing the net, etc.

I like those prices on the graphics cards. I don't plan on overclocking anything, and I'm going to see if I can grab a pre-built with the specifications you guys listed just to avoid the hassle of any potential building problems I could have.

Here's a useful map of Yonsan. Seon-in Plaza is the blue one.. you get to it after passing all the DVD street stalls and it has a large ramp leading up to it's main doors.

Here's a map showing Sun-in Plaza.......go in there and walk around. You'll soon see a couple of larger, busier shop units where guys are busy giving quotes and building PC's......... ...You can go in with a spec sheet for a custom-build or you can buy one of their suggested pre-built machines. They start at around 400,000 for no monitor systems.

Is it possible to build a comp with the i5 for 500,000 that is worth building? I went to Yongsan today to just browse around but wasn't exactly sure what I should be paying because I didn't do any research. I went to buy a TV but I also need a new computer. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, if know any good places to buy a TV would be helpful too!

If you cheap out on all the other components, maaaaaaybe. But I don't know a lot about prices these days. I think I actually paid a bit much for the one I ended up getting built for me at Seon-in Plaza near Yongsan Electronics Market.

I'm pretty sure my choices were highly limited due to it being a Sunday. All the vendors were outside and the gates to the indoor area were shut. It would have been prudent to wait for a weekday, but I was there, and I wanted a new computer pretty badly.

Been trying to price together a new comp and an i5 system is pretty tough at that price unless you have most of the other parts. The CPU and mainboard is going to run about 350,000-400,000 minimum not leaving much of a budget for RAM, video, case, power, HDD, etc.

so you are able to pick out the parts at the stores and ask them to build it for you? How much commision do they usually charge?
