None of the contributing writers were based in Korea, MAYBE that's why.

Come on... are you really that small minded? Korea wasn't picked because there were no Korean writers? Get real!
Let's take a quick look:
Writers locations: Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai, Bangkok
Countries mentioned: Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, India, Vietnam, Pakistan, Taiwan.
By your reasoning at least 5 of those countries shouldn't be mentioned either. |

Only two comments on the page and both are from Koreans complaining about there not being any Koreans on the list. |

historically korea has been quite insular, so there are simply more outsiders who know/have interest in thailand, hong kong, etc., and the same goes for journalists too. journalists are human, and they pick stories that appeal to them personally- since they don't know anything about korea, they are happy to ignore it.
i used to write for an international news magazine too, and it amazed me that they didn't have a korean office. considering the amount of news generated by kim jong-il alone, it seemed a bit strange. |

Excuse me, but they are the hub of NNE Asia both economically and culturally!

Thank you Patrick, yes I am. I seemed to have meant quite a lot to a wide range of people this year. Koreans, on the other hand, did nothing but b*tch and moan about Dokdo, the Sea of Japan, Kim Yun Ah, Dubai and the world crashing down on them. Ho hum, just another year in KO-rea. |

There is a saying in France...
You don't have to keep saying how great the wine is, if it is great!
I really think that most of the people in Asia are tired of hearing koreans shouting. In all honesty, China and Japan hold most of the interesting sights in Asia. Thailand is also one of the great spots. India....what a wonderful country. The main attraction in korea is .....that gate that burned down and I guess one Buddah or something like that.
Anyway, OP, ignore the guys who always put you down just because you are telling the truth~~~~~ I think they have some issues, and choose to ignore the truth~~ |

doesnt really make sense why Jay Chou is on the list and not Rain.
I dont really care about either of them, but going off what it says about Jay Chou, it seems like Rain already had a movie come out in the US and I assumed he made a decent amount of money this year as usual. |

I would believe that if there were a Korean contributor to this article, they would mention Kim Dae Jung- the Nobel laureate who, despite paying millions for the opportunity, was the only leader to attempt a reproach with North Korea.
Or Ban Ki Moon, the first Korean to chair the UN. He is presiding over such a tumultuous time in world history since the early 20th Century.
I believe there are many Koreans who contributed to various aspects of world politics and culture. |
