I've been in Gimhae for two days now, and I'm wondering where all the other english speaking folk are?

I'm the only foreign teacher at my Hagwon, so that's no help.

Also, I have no idea where anything is in the city, so things like "main drag" or "busiest intersection in town" (both of which I've heard a lot) don't help. I live in an apartment about a block from the pizza hut close to Inje University.

Basically, I'm new to Gimhae, anyone think they could help show me around?

Ask a taxi driver of somebody else to point out to you the location of the E-Mart Department Store. You'll find quite a few expat teachers hanging out in the McDonald's restaurant there.

You can also find quite a few expats near City Hall and the city's bus station. (Not the one where you'd catch a bus to go to another city or town; I'm talking about the one that serves the city). They are only about two kilometers from E-Mart.

Good luck, and have a good year!

you may want to venture out into areas of Busan. I'm not sure how long of a trip it is for you but the popular spots are Somyeon, Kyung Sung, Nampodong, Haeundae and PNU. Most foreigners stick to Someyon, KS and Hauendae. Try to find out which buses/subway stations can take you out into those areas. Good luck.

Well, I made it out to McDonalds today, did some walking around, found the Italian place across the street, and also found Kumusta and Aibowan Tandoori bar last night. I figure if I make it to the bar Friday night I should run into quite a few people (the owner told me it's pretty busy Friday nights). Also, I thought I heard mention of a foreigners night at Pizza Hut (which is a block from me), anyone heard anything about this?

I think I'm going to hold off on going to Busan until I get paid (I'm working on a rather limited budget until then).

On another note, anyone know of an English church in or near Gimhae (I'd be willing to go into Busan as well)?
