Anyone know a place that sells the tobacco, coals or accessories?
Note: I don't need an actual pipe.

Head up the hill past The Foreign Restaurant and What The Book in Itaewon. Take a left at the corner, and around that corner (about 20 to 30 meters up) is a shop, if it's still there.

If you walk to the Mosque in Itaewon, take your next left. There is a Turkish restaurant that, a year ago, had packs of the tobacco in a case for sale (and you can order a pipe to smoke in the restaurant).

It would be cool if there were a hookah smoking club:) LOL I used to enjoy smoking it with some friends back home. I have no idea about the supplies. I have a hookah, but I haven't used it, because it's small.
It was given to me for free. I will try to set up some time and see how good it is, but I prefer a big one. Does anyone actually sell hookahs here?

There are quite a few places in Itaewon to get hookah pipes/supplies. However, all places I've been to don't have very good products and charge a lot more than North American/European prices.

The best thing to do is order online. There are several good websites, the best of them, I would say, is: www.hookah-shisha.com

Last I checked, none of these websites deliver to Korea (legal issues?), so I have always sent mine sent to my brother, and he'd forward it to me.
The process can take about a month, but this way you can do one-stop shopping (pipe + tobacco + coals, etc.) and get quality products for CHEAP.

I ordered from that site.
Shipping is expensive!
They don't offer slow international shipping...only express.
But I figure the cost for quality products is still better.
They also ship items as a gift.

You can thank the US Postal service for that one. Express is the only option you have now.

So much for my parents sending me a box at a lower price.

I don't mean to bring a thread back from the dead but I will be in Seoul this week and wanted to pick up some hookah supplies. I remember hearing that supplies can be bought in Itaewon. Where exactly?

Bassexpander's directions are still good. I was there about half way through December. They sell pipes and accessories plus tobacco and coals. I can't comment on the relative prices. I bought a new flexible tube (pipe to mouth piece) for 30,000 won, and tobacco for 5,000 won for a small box and 10,000 for a bigger box. The flavour was good. I especially recommend the mint.

I inherited mine from a friend who had it shipped here from Israel. As far as I know he didn't have any problems having it sent here if anyone's still interested in the answer to that question.

Funny thing: I was in Beijing last year and went to eat at a restaurant that had these things there. I didn't know what they were called at the time. But what was crazy is that a bunch of foreign high school students were sitting in the corner smoking from one of these. At the time I thought that perhaps they were doing drugs...but thanks to this thread it has enlightened me that they were just smoking regular stuff.

There are heaps of hookah bars in Seoul. My favourite is Rainbow Room in Gangnam. You smoke the base priced shisha and the base set up for 12,000 won. Add some extra money for cold water, vodka, premium shisha, etc. You can find cheaper prices elsewhere but I prefer the flavour of the shisha at RR.

Note for new home smokers: if you use the quick burn charcoals, light them outside (even stick them out the window is fine). It only took one time to learn my lesson good and proper! They produce a LOT of smoke initially.

On a related note, anyone know where to get lava lamps, tie dye, and patchouli?

Hookahs...

@Ruthdes

Are you suggesting they put in vodka instead of water? If so, I'm trying that out tomorrow.
