So I am looking to get a Wii here in Korea, but it seems that when you buy the system here, it doesn't come with Wii Sports like in the US?!? Would someone with some experience with the Wii here mind giving me a primer on buying and using one here? Or should I buy a system and have it shipped from the States?

I'm not interested in hacks or any such things, just regular use. Oh, except for some kind of hack to circumvent region protection - I hate that junk. Thanks.

Wes Harris is right. Got Yongsan, get yourself a system with a mod chip that will solve your regional problems, then enjoy the Wii Sports disc, pirated of course, that they throw in for free.

Can anyone recommend a particular good shop for this? I think for anything more than a few thousand won, we should be making a list of good shops and locations to buy this kind of stuff. Yongsan is huge and if people can't speak korean/don't have a korean friend to go with them, they're likely to get ripped off/sold some crap.

Just know if you go to a regular store (hi-mart, homeplus, emart, lotte world) and buy a wii, the language will be in only Korean with no option to change to English.

I should have gone to Yongsan and gotten a modded one. Sad I keep telling myself it will improve my Korean like this though.

Thanks, You, I hadn't thought about the language issue.

If I buy a modded Wii at Yongsan, how much should I pay? I believe I've seen the regular Wiis going for 200,000-220,000 in stores.

And if I get a modded one, will I lose any of the functionality pf different features of the Wii, like getting updates via WiiConnect24? Will a modded Wii have any trouble playing Wii games bought in Korea or the U.S. at regular stores?

oh, and if anyone has a recommendation for a store to get one at in Yongsan, it'd be much appreciated. Smile

Oh, and does the Wii work on both 220 and 110V currents? (sorry if those numbers aren't exactly right)
