Hey all,

Don't know how long this will last, but this thread is just for sharing good tips for energy shakes and protein shakes.

Let me start:

1 banana
2 "dollops" of peanut butter
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 cup of milk (homeplus lactose free for me)
1 tablespoon of honey

Blend!

That's all, and it's incredibly tasty. Share your recipes for food shakes.

To everybody,

Do you actually feel and look different when you take a protein shake everyday? I like the idea of the above recipe, because bananas are so healthy that you should get them every day.

Skim milk
Splash of plain, sugar-free yogurt
Unflavoured casein protein powder
Tablespoon of pure (ie sugar-free) cocoa powder
5 large ice cubs, stabbed in half

You can use flavoured powder if you like, and the type of protein (whey, casein, etc.) won't significantly change the taste. The important parts are the ice cubes and cocoa powder: it's like a dark chocolate milkshake!

Some spinach
A banana or two
Yogurt or milk
A bit of olive oil
(I always add chocolate protein powder)

The banana hides the taste of the spinach - for the most part. It looks green and a bit disgusting, but it's pretty good.

Unless you are very active or workout lifting everyday, there really is no need for a protein shake supplement as you should get enough protein in your daily diet. I think there are foolish people out there who believe simply drinking a protein supplement will pack on muscle - false.

For me, I just mix my Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex with 1% lowfat Seoul Milk. If I don't have milk, water it is. Shake that baby up and drink it in 4 gulps.

I don't drink it for the taste, I drink it for the combination of protein, carbs, vitamins and essential BCAA's for post workout and mornings to aide in recovery.

Lassi.
Handful of fruit (banana or mango)
A few ice cubes
A small container of plain yogurt
A container's worth of water
A teaspoon of sugar
Blend.

I don't work out much and don't care about the protein. It's a good quick breakfast or a late-night snack.

I do it for a couple of reasons; I'm active, have a fast metabolism, want to gain about 10 or 20 pounds this year, and need a morning energy boost as I can't be bothered to sit down and eat cereal in the winter when I barely want to wake up anyway Smile

buy frozen blueberries at homeplus
add soy milk
a little creatine
blend

then add bananas as the last step
blend again

sometimes I dissolve an ester-C in a tablespoon of water and add that as well

Grats dude. I'm reading right now. I have a huge vacation in February, but after that, I'm getting my ass into the gym. The reason I'm getting into the shake thing now is to build some discipline when it comes to eating.

Why are so many of you mixing olive oil with high glycemic carbs and even adding olive oil to a post workout meal?

Olive oil is great, but not in that combination.

My reasoning is that it's just for the calories. What's wrong with it?
