So I ordered the new Final Fantasy 13 PS3 bundle and it's supposed to arrive today. I got a call in the morning (9:45am) from Fedex Korea, and they told me I had to pay a tax fee of 75,500 won. I was tired and waited too long for this package, so after receiving their text message (around 11:30am) of where to send it, I sent the money to their Shinhan account (12:45pm). Has anyone else had to do this? How long did it take for them to receive the tax money and for them to get back to sending the package? It's currently still in Incheon.

It currently says

Jan 5, 2010 8:52 AM
In Transit
Incheon KR
Package available for clearance

all on the same line. It's currently 2:17pm. My tracking number says the package should be here by 6pm today.

As long as you pay, it will arrive you very soon.

I got my laptop the next day after I paid the tax.

Last year.

Damn... I was hoping to get it today. Oh well. Did you transfer the tax through an atm? They sent me a text with the acct number and the bank name. Do I have to call them to let them know the tax was paid? Thanks for the info.

yeah, you better make a call before and after the payment. Yes, ATM works.

As long as they confirm the payment, your parcel will be released soon form the custom.

Last year I called after I got the text message, I even made a bargain...They asked me to pay $200, but we finally made an agreement at $40...I told them it was a used laptop and I also sent them some documents as the proof.

Good luck.

Oh... I actually already paid it without calling them. I guess I'll give them a call since I already did it

I order through Eddie Bauer and they used to send their items via UPS but now it's Fed Ex. Fed Ex blows! At least in Korea. I never had a delay in Customs with UPS but every order shipped Fed Ex has been held up in Customs even though there was no VAT due.

If I'm bringing a used xbox360 in the box as my check on baggage to korea will I face any problems or taxes?

Nope. Personal use, it's used, you'll breeze through customs. Just bringing your notebook, etc..

make sure don't write too high of the value.

i was taxed last year because my sister wrote $2000.

I guess items < $400 are free of tax? (sorry please someone check it out for me)

Where exactly do I write the value? I'm bringing it on the plane the same way I would bring a laptop computer on the plane. When do they ask the value for your check on equipment?

Sorry, I misunderstood you.

If you carry it with you, no worry. Same with the laptop.
