So this evening, I get an email from "Ryan". The sender's address is [email protected] and the message heading is "Job offers from B2Corea."

Please. Are we teachers such schmucks? I've never dealt with this company, and out of the blue comes this generic message with a flimsy job description and ready to go contract attached.

Please. Read the following and have a good chuckle. Some Hagwon owner trying his best to double as one of us.
___________

Dear XXX
This is Clive Lee from B2Corea.
I am writing to inform you that we now have new jobs available in ESL teaching in Korea.
As you may read the contract I would attach, I believe that there would be a great deal of benefits which may interest you to take the job offer. Now you can work at public schools, run by the Department of Education, not by private institutes. You would be required to teach from elementrary to middle school aged group.

Should you have any inquiries about the offer, do not hesitate to contact me at any time.

Have a nice day.
With regards,

Clive Lee

Maybe it is suspicious, but what makes you so sure it's a scam? Did you work for them? Did they burn you?

It might be an "after school" program and he is contracted to find a teacher. It could be, but who knows?

Ryan and B2Corea have a contract with some of the public schools in the Seosan City area to do their recruiting and to be the school's liaison with the teacher throughout the duration of the contract. The job is with the public school (it's a standard public school contract) and B2Corea's role is to be the matchmaker and the support.

They are legit, though their liaison work is not up to the standard that I would have expected.

I just received a phone call from a Korean recruiter named Victor from B2corea. (He contacted me after correspondence via [email protected])

According to him, they are working to find teachers to fill remaining spots in the GEPIK program. He was very fast paced and all business on the phone.

Like all recruiters he said I am pretty much the perfect candidate and he has a "very good feeling about me". (Despite my lack of any certs or teaching experience whatsoever).

He also mentioned some kind of set up at a couple of schools that involve "extra curricular activities" with additional pay of $10 per hour times ~10 students. He was very vague on this. Basically he said it amounted to a salary of more like 2.5 mil instead of the base 2.1.

Obviously waiting to see some contracts and talk to current teachers before anything else. Just thought I'd share what info I could.

Are you sure this is a public school?

Public schools have a standard overtime rate of 20,000 Won per class.

B2Corea also does recruiting for some hogwans.

People need to look at post dates more often. This thread is 2 years old.
