The open-air markets (she-jahngs) and E-Mart have them. I have one from the U.S. and bought it at E-Mart for 10,000 won.

The E-Mart in my area has only the old style can openers that has a sharp point and you have to push down into the can. If you want a good turn key style one that holds up,well you have to look around at the small local stores or markets. I got mine at a mom and pop place that sold different odd things. Good luck!

Koreans don't open cans, as a rule. You don't see supermarket shelves stocked for miles with soups, vegetables, meats, etc. The best I can do out here is one of those cheap metal ones with no grip and a bottle opener on the end. If you can find one, buy them all, they're only 1000 and they get really dull really fast. You're not going to find a good can opener here.

I bought an excellent can opener at HomePlus. It is black with some grey buttons on either side. One to tighten it and one to release. At first I didn't understand how to use it because it cuts on the outside of the box instead of on the top of the lid, so I tried to use it in the wrong direction. However when someone (a girl) read the manual it was easy to use. It makes a really nice and clean cut and is very easy to use.

Swiss knife rip-off here, and lately bought on ein Emart.
My wife laughs when I tell her that I had at least 1 or 2 tinned things each day, whilst growing up. I grew up on canned or burnt food, sometimes both.
