You know it's bad when one of the hagwon directors is wearing a scarf, hat and mittens in her office... wtf? Who controls the heat? I can't believe how stingy they are... the hallways are freezing... the bathrooms are ice boxes. I'm just glad I'm not a girl - can't imagine sitting on an ice cold toilet seat... just to walk to the washroom the teachers all wear their full winter gear... sure you can go without, but you just extend your recovery period afterward (to warm up).

Our school is trying to impress new potential clients, but you have to wonder if the parents notice the coldness... inside the classrooms are fine - but I notice the heaters don't stay on... they magically turn off every 5 minutes and you have to fight them.

And how is one supposed to enjoy the eye candy of the K-assistants when they have to wear 5 layers??

Can't wait for the next 60 days to be over, when MAYBE the temps start to ease up...

well if they are cheap in the winter.. what happens in the summer with the AIRCON??

yup they're stingy with the aircon too... that's why I'm looking forward to the 'in between' weather... where you don't need heat or aircon... just open or close the window Rolling Eyes

Ha it was snowing on Monday, pretty much all day, and my PS likes to open the windows and doors creating a nice wind tunnel.

All the PS's in my area are stupid with the heat. You coudl hang meat in the hallways.

Buy a heater for 20,000won and stand/sit next to it continuously while you're teaching.

My hagwon had climate controls for each classroom. Not regulated by a central control panel like my PS. Advantage: old hagwon.

I forgot to mention that washing your hands with ICE COLD water does suck as well Shocked - but I can see how the school wouldn't bother wasting money on hot water bills...

"That'll learn you" -- common North American comical expression.

My school's fine (individual room thermostats, ceiling heaters) but my house this week, yikes. Boiler down. Took the technician 36 hours to get & install the right replacement parts. Had to spend last night in a motel. The floor is slowly warming up again now. Brrr.

My public school is freezing this week. The administration office has done something so that the heaters in the classrooms are so weak that they barely put any heat out at all. Even though they barely work, they also are constantly shutting off. They told us we might get real heat next week. They don't seem to really care about English camp.
