In the back of my mind I've been considering taking a year or two to get that pesky MA out of the way. I've saved enough that I can pay for it and have a small stipend to live on as well. A friend of mine has also offered to let me stay rent-free for quite some time too.

All in all it sounds like a do-able scenario monetarily but what schools would be worth it and within my budget of say... $12,000 USD?

And, besides TESL or Applied Linguistics, what MAs might be applicable or acceptable for a university EFL position? I've been in a university in Busan for two years and they have opted to not renew the entire department and most other universities are picking out the MAs left and right (which seem to be in greater abundance lately).

I htink that Framingham might be that affordable. I've been looking at OZ degrees, less classes and less money, but an MA will still be costing me about 18K usd. IF the exchange rate stays what it is.

This is without a thesis. There's lots of things to consider when getting an MA, this will be my second, so I just want to do it fast and cheap. My first took 3 years, 16 courses, a practicum and thesis.

What about online degrees? Because studying in the US, while your rent is free, don't forget about transport and food. Aslso, you'll be losing work experience time.

My first MA is in TESL, my second will be in Education,from Deakin uni, I found out htat USQ just isn't that good. NIce thing about Deakin is you basiclly design your degree according to your interests.

Oh, don't forget about transfer credit. That will help you save time and money. Some places allow you to transfer HALF of the credits in.

It seems a bit pricey for an online degree. Is this the right program page?

I'm leaning more towards Auckland at the moment. I've heard Ellis speak in person and have to admit that the clarity with which he spoke really inspired me. Until I heard his lecture I thought of the whole TEFL/TESOL thing as a bit overblown and over-theoretical. He was able to bring it down to earth and present theory and practice clearly. Most of the presenters at the conference I saw him at were fairly bumbling and bookish, they seemed socially inept but decent researchers. Ellis was able to do both, and as I already mentioned, with clarity.

Yep, that's the TESOL one. I'll be doing the Education one. Same price though.

The University of Missouri has an online program. Same with University of Illinois off of the top of my head.

U of I has it? Which campus? Is it in TEFL?
