On the Other Hand: did you actually click the word "blowback" on the link you provided?
Your source derives from Chalmers Johnson's politics. I rest my case. |

| I don't see how that was an anti-semitic argument at all, to be honest. |

Agreed, Ben Stein is really embarrassing. |

Ben Stein co wrote the anti evolution propoganda movie, Expelled.
I've seen the movie*. It basically claims that evolution = Nazism, communism and everything evil and wrong.
Why this guy is allowed on tv is beyond me.

I don't mind Ben Stein. He talks about unpopular subjects. I liked the movie but I didn't agree with his more extreme arguments in Expelled; the Nazi comparison made him look a little ridiculous. He does have a tendency to make statements that make him sound like an effete intellectual who doesn't have time to explain arguments, like this one -- removing US assistance from Israel may be a bad idea, but he doesn't explain how it or Ron Paul are anti-semitic. It just sounds like he pulled out the term thinking that conjuring it up would answer everything.
Ron Paul has respectable ideas, but I don't think everyone on Dave's is in love with him. American action in foreign countries has at times been overbearing and wasteful, but it has also saved Europe from communism and other countries from disaster. The idea that America should take their toys and go home is a spiteful idea that could cause everyone grief in the long run if countries such as China fill that power vacuum. But I'll admit that Libertarians at least have ideas, rather than saying "no" and "cut taxes" to every situation. |

Understatement of the century. That is not a 'little ridiculous', it is obvious crude and nasty propaganda. It was also a large part of the movie.
A good documentary about the evolution vs intelligent design is here..
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/beta/evolution/intelligent-design-trial.html
it covers the 'Kitzmiller v. Dover School District' trial in 2004, a landmark trial . |

Despite it all, he did very well. Don't you think? The Republicans had half a dozen smiling donkeys and an outsider who managed to snake his way in. He was mocked, mimicked, called names and all else.
His opinion is that America should stay home. This has nothing to do with Soviet this and that or your boy Chalmers. He's right. The United States cannot afford endless wars. Christ, have you seen what China is building? Look at the metro systems being built all over that country. That is how public money should be spent. Trillions pissed away in the US to NO BENEFIT of average people. |
Streets of gold man, streets of GOLD! Even the lowliest of paupers would be in top hats smoking cigars rolled in the paper that now makes our "currency" had htings gone differently over the last 60 years.
I am American, supported Ron Paul, and was astounded by all the Ron Paul ads, stickers, and other paraphenalia that the average American just seemed to be quite clueless about.
He couldn't be the first woman president. He couldn't be the first black president. As far as anyone who was likely voting for the first time was concerned, he was just another old, white Republican. If he had stepped in during the 2004 election, perhaps things may have been a bit different.
In any case, after having seen him speak in person and in keeping up with his other speeches and appearances, he is quite consistent in his respect for all Americans, regardless of race. I think it could be argued that the warhawks are perhaps more antisemitic in that their renewed assault on Arabia has done nothing more than incite and renew violence against the perceived Israel - America collusion.
I also do not think China would fill any power vacuum in the Middle East, because people in the Middle East don't want ANYONE there but Muslims. Why would China want to disrupt their already fragile-but-improving infrastructure by pushing their way west? Wouldn't make sense... |

How can you hate a movie with such great gems as "How can you have a theory about life without explaining where life came from?" |

Well, it wasn't anti-Semitic. Ben Stein probably attends a lot of pro-Israeli functions as a strong supporter of Israel. I am sure they have talking points, and he, possibly, in response to something Ron Paul said made a mistake in using a talking point that didn't fit as this had to do with the US in Afghanistan, not Israel's actions in the Middle East. Stein probably mixed his issues.
Paul was talking about his feeling that Americans are viewed as occupiers. He wasn't for the war. Stein is used to the argument that Israel is labeled as an occupier in the West Bank (called Judea and Samaria by some Israelis), and he connected the two.
I understand Paul doesn't want funding to go to foreign countries or to get involved in the mess of Israel or fighting wars overseas. I mean Israelis don't pay American taxes and nor do the Iraqis, but yet so much money has gone overseas and Americans need that money.
Paul is angry at feeling that Americans have been used illegitmately to fund things they would rather not have funded had they known the truth, and he doesn't want America to have enemies.
I do understand where he is coming from. If someone disagrees with him, fine, but to use the race card is disgusting. |

Lest we forget, Obama was an obscure Chicago State Senator who gave one good speech. |

Well, he had a Canadian-themed avatar for awhile, featuring Johnny Canuck, an old Canadian superhero. Other than that, there wasn't a lot of specifically Canadian content to his posts. But I always kind of assumed he was Canadian. |
