|
|
I have been told by an agency that they need my documents before they can put my details forward for any positions? Is this actually the case? What happens if I cannot get a location that I wish to work in, I don't have my documents any more so I don't get a choice? Anyone had any experience with GEPIK and can advise?
Many Thanks |

Recruiters will ask for things like your resume, headshot, reference letters, TESOL/TEFL certificate, etc. to be able to present you to schools. BUT don't ever send things like your criminal background check, apostilled degree, etc. until you've actually been offered a job and have signed a contract. |

I worked with a bunch of recruiters before I decided on a position. None of them asked me for more than my resume and a recent photo. I didn't send my documents until I had an interview with a school and they sent me a contract. |

So no recruiter ever said this to you

Either way though, your docs have got to be in our office for you to get a job.
I have attached the documents you will need |
.
I can only assume they mean the CV, application form etc? Not the background check ?? |

Well this has me a little concerned. I sent in my resume, picture and CV a long time ago. I talked to the hiring agency on the phone and then later they sent me an email with a GEPIK job offer, and it says the position is 100% secured as long as I get my Visa paperwork in by the 17th. Are you saying it isn't secured? |

I am still in the process of thing with Korvia, but I can tell you about my experience thus far. I initially sent my resume and photo as was requested in the contact information from their website. Then I was requested to email a copy of a filled out GEPIK application (I scanned any pages with signatures), as well as scans of my reference letters, and that they would be able to schedule interviews for me from there. |

This is my experience with them as well. Nickwills, I would double check with the recruiter to find out exactly what documents he says that they have to have in order to find placements for you. If it includes your CRC, diploma, etc. before they even find something for you, then I would be very wary and move on to another recruiter. |

I have just heard GEPIK are now starting to work like EPIK for 2010. You get a confirmed job offer and then have to send your papers in by the 17th Jan, but you can be allocated to any school, not necessarily the one you put as your priority to go to.
This is how EPIK works, you put a preference list of locations but the POE makes the final decision after a set date when the individual offices of education view the completed papers already received.
For GEPIK this will mean the final selection of where you go happens at the city Hall level, not the main GEPIK office or by the recruiters chosing.
Please double check this out for yourself before sending your final papers. |
