So I'm coming towards the end of my year's lease of my apt (middle of Feb if memory serves) and I'm perfectly content to stay here another year - in fact the idea of having to move all my stuff is nightmarish - so how exactly does one go about extending the lease?
Do I need to go through the 부동산 again and incur another commission fee from her or should I make attempts to contact the owner directly?
The other worry I have is the owner trying to jack up the rent for next year. Is it a standard thing to do that? I think I heard somewhere that the tenant has a right to extend the lease for 1 year after the initial year with no increase in rent but I don't know for sure. I'm paying 월세 (combination of key money and rent) so if there are any specific rules for that kind of contract it would be great to know about them.
Anyway, if those who have experience in this area could let me in on the secrets I would be most grateful. |

I believe that it is automatically extended, with no involvement needed by you or the landlord or any real estate agent. Don't even mention it to anyone. |
