I think it's a stupid name, but at least I know now where it comes from. His Korean name is Kwon Ji-Yong. Yong means Dragon, so his name is Kwon G-Dragon. OK, fair enough name I guess. |

So a guy who's name refers to a fictional character with gold genitalia think G Dragon's name is moronic? |

Happens all the time in America. No one really cares. It's interesting how prurient concert performances catch the eye of the Korean law here, but prostitution and massages parlors offering "specials" don't. |

Me: "Why is Big Bang so girly?"
Friend: "They're actually one of the more manlier boy bands."
Me: " "
Doubt that anything will happen to this clown. Too bad, 'cause I'm sick of hearing about him from my kids. If he was just put away in some dark room forever, the world would be better off. |

Google Adam Lambert and you'll see that it does happen in America, in fact it happened just a month ago. No criminal charges, but essentially the same scandal. G Dragon and his handlers are just copying a western artist. Nothing new for Korea, and certainly not for G Dragon. He's already caught up in a plagiarism dispute with Sony. |

I would change that from...copying a western artist....to copying western artists.
They are taking plagiarism, copying, etc.. to not so creative new levels.
It obviously pays to be a chameleon as a Korean performer.
It isn't just the songs...the whole Heartbreaker thing...but also his looks...the platinum blond hair and the smirk...can you say Billy Idol
But hey...it isn't just the 12 year old Korean girls that love him...there are posters on this forum that are swayed by his....star power
He is making the most of the talent he has...and it's working for him. |

Yeah, I remember Billy Idol wearing hot pink jumpsuits and teddy bear earrings all the time.
I think you'd have an easier time comparing G-Dragon to drag queens. |

I've always found his original moves for the song a bit more odd (essentially him touching himself on a bed) more bizarre than him dry humping.
Upon some research, Taeyang (another Big Bang member) actually did something similar with the same girl in his perfomance months before G-Dragon. Part of the performace was Taeyang taking off his shirt and grinding againt the floor and doing pelvic thrusts, whilst the other part was him and Aimee doing some dirty dancing.
I guess since it wasn't as long and some of it was through glass it doesn't count.

I personally like G-Dragon's Hearthbreaker song, but I just wish he would kick.... whatever image he was trying.
Gangsta 15-year-old porceline doll is what I'm going with. |
