I've been giving this some thought.
If I stay here and if I stay with my school and if they start implementing this new deskwarming rule, which they still have not, I'll simply work after school classes for the extra couple of weeks of paid vacation which will have me avoid Korea in August and January because for reasons of mental health and sanity this homey just ain't going to play dat. (camps, etc) |

That's what I did. I still have 2 weeks of camp, but I don't come into work from Jan. 15 - Feb. 28. I was able to save up 15 or 16 extra days of vacation due to the after school classes I had in the 2nd semester. |

It would be nice if we were all given that same option. Some of us are not. |

Not to mention that when other teachers hear about the above option they are likely to complain thus leading to the removal of the option for all teachers as with deskwarming and "home leave". |

If you work for GEPIK then it should already be included in your contract. For each hour of OT you work, you can save that up as 1 hour of paid time off. It's up to your school though to create after school classes so that you can save up the OT. |

Do you guys get paid more for OT? (I know it sounds like a stupid question, but a lot of people do OT for the same or less hourly wages).
If you get paid more for OT, the school should give you that option. They are saving money. |

The school isn't saving money. They are pocketing your OT money. |

More often than not, "home study" is a direct result of you going along and putting yo' lips in the appropriate place. You get paid regardless, but seatwarming is in the discretionof da man. Pucker up! |

check your contract. I know it's in Gepik's (though I haven't carefully read the 2010 version)
states that you have option to substitute after school classes toward vacation days, albeit at a very severe price... literally 8 hours of teaching classes for one day off. |

I wouldn't bother myself.
How often are classes cancelled? You might miss a few morning classes due to whatever, you still have to plan and teach your afterschool classes but depending on your school you won't get OT pay or vacation substitute time unless you actually teach over your 22 each week.
Worst case is doing extra classes, getting paid. Then a year later the school saying those classes weren't over your 22, (cancellations, public holiday) so give back the money!
I'm not doing anymore OT myself. |

I specifically said "after school" classes, not just any old "overtime" ones.
Anything after 4:30 can't be counted toward your weekly 22.
in any event, I'm fortunate enough to be at a school where they don't play this kind of BS and my classes taught are never counted, regardless of cancellations, etc. If I'm there, it's a full day and I'm paid. |

Ok clear on that now
"Afterschool" doesn't always mean outside normal work hours, just after the time the kids usually go home. |
