|
|
Hey folks,
I recently accepted a job in Busan for the upcoming February and my visa confirmation number is being processed. I'm a bit worried because my passport currently only has 1/2 page of open space.
There are still multiple pages for 'amendments and endorsements' (I'm from the U.S.), but I'm worried that the Korean consulate wouldn't be willing to place the visa on one of those pages.
Any help on the subject would be appreciated. |

the visa will take up a full page, and unfortunately, i think you might be right about the consulate not being too eager to place a visa on one of the amendment pages (though i have no reason to think this - just a hunch...). however, you can get pages added to your passport, which would give you plenty of space, without having to apply for a whole new one. i'm not sure how you would go about doing it from there (assuming you're in the states), but in korea and other foreign countries, you can just head down to the u.s. embassy and apply/pay to have new pages put in. it takes about a week to get done if i remember correctly. |

you need new pages for sure. you should never let your passport get that low with pages when you know you are about to be traveling. they cant add to the amendments page. they need real pages to put visas and stamps on. better get those pages fast. |

yikes...
I had looked at getting passport pages added in the states, but I haven't been in country long enough to get it sent off and sent back...
Thanks for the info on the size, and if anybody has had experience with the problem, I'd love to hear some advice. |

I'm in California now, my recruiter expected to have a number to me by the 18th of this month (8 days), hoping to start the job by the 3rd of February. |

here's the link to the service i mentioned before (though you might have already seen this information):
http://travel.state.gov/passport/fri/add/add_850.html
they do have an expedited service available, but this might still take too much time so you may want to try going to one of the regional offices in los angeles or san francisco in person. i'd make some calls and see what the passport agency people say and what kind of timeline they can give you for having pages added.

You will need a minimum of two pages. One for the actual visa and an additional page for your entry and exit stamps. Many countries ask for a minimum of 2 pages some places that I have been said that they wanted 6 empty pages.
Hopefully you have time to get additional pages put in. I am certain that Korean consulate will not put your visa in your passport without at least 2 empty pages. |

That's thinking. Nobody has thought of mentioning the page or two you will need for entry and exit stamps.

The consulate put my visa on my last "amendments and endorsements" page. I was worried they wouldn't do it, but fortunately they didn't have any problems with it. (This was at the consulate in Fukuoka, Japan).
But I agree with the others about getting new pages for your passport ASAP. |
