Does anyone have any ideas on how to teach Korean moms who have yet to learn basic phonics? Materials? Activities?

Is the book Expressways (Steven J. Molinsky / Bill Bliss) still around? It's
probably older than the ESL industry itself, but I've heard of other teachers
using this book to teach beginner ajummas. It's basically conversations and substitution drills - so it would require work on your part to make the class
interesting and provide related activities.

Good luck.

I'm also teaching a beginner ajumma class and using "American Headway Starter" It's really great. Lots of speaking and writing practice. Also, if you order the "Teacher's Resource Book" there are tonnes of games and activities you can copy and print.

Let them enjoy it. Or you will loose them.

Forget the class. I have them come over to my crib for some soju and sum-yong-gui.
