| Anytime a criticism is made against Isreal its die hard unexamined supporters will cry antisemitism. It is an old trick and a tired one at that. The world is really starting to see what its blacket support of Isreal is costing them. So much so that many Isreali leaders are fearful of heading to England least they would be arrested for war crimes. |

| Ron Paul has had white supremacists groups writing for his newsletter for a few years. He may not be an anti-Semite/racist, but he sure is pretty chummy with people who are. |

| Ron Paul didn't even talk about Israel or Jews in that debate. Maybe Stein is being anti-Semitic for associating the occupations with Jews. After all, there aren't many Jewish soldiers in our military, as a percentage. |

He's also correct about war and the economy. So, deal with it. Or, be poor and perpetually at war (now with Chocolate Jesus too) yet pure of individuals who may at some point have had contact with people you believe to hold distasteful opinions. |

I don't know if you were kidding or not, but the antisemitism Ben Stein's getting at is that calling American troops in the Middle East "occupiers" suggests an acceptance of the region as needlessly oppressed rather than dangerous and in need of policing-- generally, the "dangerous and in need of policing" school of thought would tend to focus on the rabid antisemitism of the region while the "needlessly oppressed" school of though would tend to downplay antisemitism.
I think the connection's pretty flimsy and it was bad form to try bringing it up, but it's not that hard to figure out what he was getting at.
In a gross oversimplification nutshell-- Arabs hate Jews, so sympathizing with them can be construed as siding against the Jews. You can get into a huge debate about ethnicity vs. religion vs. nationality etc., but my oversimplified summary is the obvious interpretation here. |
