So I read this morning that they might be imposing HIV testing for foreign workers in Korea.

"Bill 3356 is scheduled to be debated in the Assembly in February. The bill, written by Assemblyman Lee Sang-jun, if passed, will mandate HIV/AIDS testing of all foreigners applying for work visas in Korea. "

So basically I am just curious on how it is tested these days and if it is an uncomfortable process...

Seeing that needle penetrate your arm and all that red stuff coming out certainly is unsettling.

There's a small pinch, but other than that it isn't painful. It's a little uncomfortable to see a needle going into your arm, though. If you've ever given blood or haven any bloodwork done, it's not in the least bit unpleasant, though.

Hehe. When I had the test done last year, the guy who gave back the results said "congratulations" when he gave us back our tests. It's all good. Um, yeah, I KNOW! Duh. I hate the fact that SMOE is now requiring a new health check to renew your visa. I am currently at work, fasting and VERY hungry. I think my camp today is going to suck. Breakfast is the one meal I never skip.

It depends on the nurse and how easy it is to find your veins. My veins run close to the surface so I have never had a problem. But I have friends whose veins are buried rather deep and I have seen them with some quite big bruises

Bugger, the drug test was so much easier.

The 4" diameter anal probe with barbs was the worst part of the HIV test. The saltwater douche afterward was horrible, too.

I had to get an HIV test for a student visa in Chile. I didn't think it was a big deal...

It's the same as any other blood test, I guess, though I didn't have a very good time of it during my test for the E-2... I'm really squeamish around blood, and my veins are apparently harder to find than Bin Laden, and I got poked in the arm 4 times, followed by two attempts to the wrist, and they finally settled on a vein on top of my hand... that was not the most comfortable thing ever. It thankfully didn't take long.

I know I'm not looking forward to it. I can get shots all day, but when I get blood drawn or IVs placed I break into a sweat and get light headed. I feel like such a baby when this happens, but I've been unable to stop it since I past out as a kid and it's just there now. Mad

But maybe it was the 4" anal probe Laughing
