A friend of mine and his wife both had massive student loan debt from the
Canadian government. They worked jobs but had to take out loans. In the end they managed to rack up pretty close to 40 grand each. After they graduated they took any job they could get and the government was after them for over 600 bucks a month. Obviously they couldn't afford it and the debt went to the collectors for literally pennies on the dollar. Fast forward 10 years and they finally move back to Canada. When they try to get a credit card the bank tells them they owe 10 grand not 40. Apparently the collectors would take anything they could out of the deal. Because as said earlier most debts are bought by collectors for pennies. In the end they paid the debt in one lump sum. But those 10 years were a real hassle. It was impossible to get a contract phone, a credit card..etc. |

Why would you want to do something like this?
Do you not value the education you receive?
Maybe you could get away with this, but wouldn't you feel bad about it?
Best to be honest in your life. Honest pays in hard cold cash. |
