President Roh Moo-hyun said on Monday the government will promote the official use of English by officials to put the country in a better position to take advantage of opportunities offered by rapid globalization.

Roh rejected the claim that the official use of English will undermine the national identity, saying, "This is not a reason for not using English." The head of state went on to stress that it was important to provide English training for Koreans that will allow them to use it freely in their daily lives.

Does this mean anything for foreign English educators in Korea? So, will English teacher (English professors) have increases in pay, benefits, or security?

You've got to be kidding me. He's advertising?

And for that matter, why would Roh pimp tourism on Korean TV? The people he's preaching to are already there.

He does that little hunched shoulder push forward body motion at the end that really makes me feel it could have been produced better.
