I don't think it is that bad, depends on how many days. if it is fewer than 14 than i think you might get a slap on the wrist on you are on your way. Over that and what Shawner said coupld be true in extreme cases, however most probably at least a 100 000 won fine about to about 20 000 000 won i think(could be more)

Try applying for an amnesty. Is that still going? Man, you are really in trouble.

Alright, i think I had a read and basically when you get there you will be charged with a fine which must be paid into a Korean bank account(doesn't matter what country you are in) within 7 days which will total probably about 5 000 000 won but could be more or less (depending on how much money you sent out of the country when you were illegal -it will be stampefd into your passport) so my immigration friend said. You are allowed out of the country because you are voluntarily leaving.

However, if you fail to pay the money before 7 days you may be extridited back to Korea to go before a judge for sentancing. The length of time is going to be the killer for you as you've stayed so long over. it could be some jail time(VERY HIHLY unlikelely though).

Here is a link with more(but very technical) information

There was an amnesty a few months back where illegal aliens could turn themselves in, leave voluntarily, and face no fine or repurcussion.

I used it actually, though unknowing at the time I actually needed to use it.

Canadians have 6 months on their tourist visa upon entry. But I was on my British passport.

Stupid me just "assumed" the same applied for everyone except Americans. Well, it turned out Brits only get 90 days instead on Canucks who get 6 months.

Well, I have overstayed almost 3 months! Lucky for me there was this amnesty thing going on, or I would have been slapped with a nice fine and deportation.

Just drain the bank account and leave. If that 7 day thing is real then *beep* it, never come back to Korea (big loss eh, not!). They have better things to do than notify interpol about some border jumper.

Down on Texas street in Busan there are often ships from Tuvalu...the sailors are great...ive often considered jumping on board and singing them a few old English sea shanties before bumping gently against the tropical shores of Tuvalu. Then its Pina Coladas , Hula Hula girls and thats me settled.
