|
|
My hagwon owner is telling me that she is paying into the National Health Insurance. At my previous job I didn't have insurance, so I always paid in full when I saw a doctor or got a prescription filled.
What do I need to show at the doctor's office to get the discounted rates? Is there a health insurance card that she should give me?
I am currently in the process of getting my ARC - do I need this card before I can see a doctor with it being covered???
Thanks in advance. |

You get a paper card thing, like a drivers licence issued by the Nhic,
National Health Insurance Corporation. Just show that at the doctors.I've never needed my ARC. |

If you have an arc, you can just use that. They'll check your alien number and see if you're covered. I don't have the insurance paper, but when I show the doctor my arc, my visits are much cheaper. |

I was given a little insurance booklet (only once in 4 jobs), but as mentioned above, just show the hospital/clinic your ARC. All the info can be accessed through your ARC number. |

My company never told me I was covered, and they just finally gave me one of those paper things like a week ago. I've been here for a year and a half, and I've been to the clinic several times. I also didn't know that my ARC was connected to insurance. Grrr. At least medical care here doesn't have the inflated prices we have back in the US, so it only cost me like $50 for a doctor visit and a bag full of pills.
On another note, the same company I work for also does medical exams on all Korean employees every year. They tried to get me to do one, I said HELL no, my medical condition is none of the company's business. Different concept of privacy here, to say the least. |

Yes. Check on it ASAP. You may need it for something. You never know. |
