|
|
I was just informed today that there is a 30k/per month maintenance fee on my apt. It's a small basement in a 3 floor building, no security or squash courts, so that seems odd. Does anybody else pay this? I don't intend to pay anyways, especially as they just told me after 6 months and they are going to take it all from one pay and I feel that these fees would be covered anyway by the fact they provide a free apt. but I am not even sure if these fees exist.
Thanks. |

They do exist. Every one that i knows that lives in an apartment like building has to pay them. they usually do run at about 20 to 30K a month and as you said, there are no visible improvements(well my garbage is picked up) but thems the breaks. |

The fee pays for the electricity outside your apartment and general maintanence. You need to pay it. It is part of your utilities. |

This is also to cover the work of cleaning the stairway and hallway, which my last landlord never did. |

Ok, thanks, just surprises me that this fee exists and is not included in what the school takes care of as they did not mention it until 6 months into the contract. Also, was here before and at 2 different places never paid it, and I asked my co-workers and other teachers in this town and so far I am the only one charged it. Thanks for the clarification though. |

Fees for villa are like 20-30k per month to clean the stairs.
When I moved out of my villa last time the owner expected us to back pay all those months we refused to pay. I told my wife to put her foot down. If it aint in the rental contract, she can't legally ask for the money.
Apartment buildings are like 100-200k per month. That includes security, garbage, water and water heating. (this is assuming you arent living in a deluxe 40 pyung apt)
I would tell your boss you won't pay.
Also when I was in my 2nd year here they tried to get me to pay for cleaning. I told em I lived on the FIRST floor, WTF is there to clean that I have to pay the SAME as the guy on the fifth floor. My boss footed the bill to save face. |

I pay 20k, and it includes cable and water. My villa stairways etc. are kept spotless unlike those of my friends places. I would refuse to pay if the service provided was not adequate. |

I used to pay around 60~70K per month and my 2 other roommates paid the same... and we always recieved the bill directly so we knew it was legitimate. I asked a Korean to translate it for me one day... there were charges in there, as other posters have mentioned, for the lighting outside, garbage and recycling, plus the lift operation, cable TV blah blah blah. We were in a HUGE apartment, though.
Patong Dong... I'd definitely ask for a copy of the bill. It's probably legit, but who knows? they might be trying to screw you out of something... |
