|
|
So I just got to Korea, and I'm trying to figure out my area and my address. this is probably a silly question, but how do the addresses break down? I've got my officetel name and number, and then:
Geumgok-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeong-gi-do province, Korea
In the U.S., I'd have a city and a state (Los Angeles, CA) so having 3 names before the province is a bit confusing to me.
Beyond that, I'm closest to the Megium station, and I'm wondering what the closest E-Marts would be, and if there are any expat bars or similar hangouts around here. Thanks! |

Geumgok-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeong-gi-do province, Korea
k, let's go at it backward ~
Korea - country
Gyeong do - province (state)
Seongnam si - city
Bundang gu - district
Geumgok dong - area
my guess for the tons of info is that they dont really have names and numbers for all the streets in Korea - so this is how they pin-point the location
if you're located near Migeum station, there's an outlet mall (2001) that has a supermarket (Kim's Club, if I'm not mistaken) in the basement level
closest E-Mart would be Jukjeon Station ... about 1 or 2 subway stops away
there are a lot of foreigners in the Bundang area
Sohyeon station (about 3 stops away) is a pretty lively area, there are a couple of bars foreigners usually go to
and there's a Bundang Social club in facebook

Thanks! I'd heard there was one at Jeongjak Station, but I couldn't find it. I asked some people and they said that it was a ways away and I'd need to take a bus. Do you know more specifically where it would be? Or any specific bars that are fun around Sohyeon?
ETA: More specifically, I asked some Koreans around Jeongjak, and their English wasn't great so they could have been mistaken. |

There's an Emart in the vicinity of Jeongjak Stn., but it's not really very close. Better to take the subway to Jukjeon Stn, a couple stops in the opposite direction. There's a bigger, nicer Emart there, and also Shinsegae Dept Store, which has a basement grocery store with a lot of imported products. |

If you are in Bundang, you might want to try the Kim's Club and/or HomEver at Yatap Station. Both are within 50 meters of the subway stop. |

Or try the HomePlus at Ori Station (1 stop away from Migeum). It's not even a minute walk from the station and it's cheaper than E-Mart. |

my apology ~ I meant JukJeon station
it's about 5 minutes walk from Jukjeon station - it's on the other side of Shinsegae Department store
you could actually see E-Mart from the subway as you arrive at Jukjeon station
and true about Yatap - I really like the area around Yatap station, there's a Homever across the street |
