Is it possible to get an (official) English translation of my Korean driver's license? I know in Japan they offer this service but I am unsure of Korea. Thanks... |

Haven't heard of that, but I think Korean licenses just come in one flavor.
I was also looking at the international license though I'm not sure how helpful that would be if it's only in Korean (as the sample was.)
I couldn't find it here, but you may have better luck than me.

For a Korean Int. Driver's License
Quote: |
International driver's license is an internationally recognized translation of your domestic driver's license. It must be accompanied by your driver license when you travel.
In case of foreigners, Only those who have resided for more than 3 years in Korea can get an international driver's license from Korea.
However, those whose visa status are D-5, D-6, D-7, D-8, E-1, E-3, E-4, E-7, F-1, F-2, F-3 and F-4 can get an international driver's license from Korea, regardless of the length of their stay in Korea, once they obtain their Korean driver's license. |

Problem is, I am an E2 visa holder and only have 2 years and 10 months in country... |

I'm curious about the "countries that recognize a Korean driver's license."
Would you need an IDL in those places if they already recognize a Korean one?

If your license, in this case your Korean license, is not in English, then you will usually be required to present an IDP in conjunction with a valid out-of-country DL. However, a UK DL, in English, would not be required to have an IDP. |

Im dealing with the "3 year for an IDP problem myself"
Im going to Australia on a motorcycle trip and cant get an IDP. Australia will accept an official English translation (from a certified translator within Aus) but the motorcycle classification on my Korean licence doesn't even say motorcycle, it says something like 'small vehicle'
So you really need to check with the individual country to which you will travel. Some will accept the Korean licence, others want an IDP, and some want an English translation. |
