So you downloaded like 15 porn movies trying to find the real Mystic River. Or you downloaded the real one off bitTorrent but it's 60 files in a folder and you don't know what to do! Here's some tips!
1.
Download VLC player. http://www.videolan.org/vlc
Install it into program files and also a copy into your overnet/or emule plugins folder. Reboot.
Now you can right click your current downloads in the Overnet transfer screen and view a piece of them to make sure you're getting the real file.
Also, I just figured out tonight that VLC player plays disk image video files such as .bin or .iso without having to burn them to a disk or installing a virtual drive such as Nero ImageDrive and converting the files.
Many times I've found .avi versions end up being fakes but I've never come across a fake image file, at least yet. So if you see a .bin or .iso, get them.
Now WinRAR. Download it, install, reboot. It's very useful. This will open up .rar files that you see often. Never download a .exe program for a key generator...those are almost always trojan virused. The ones zipped with .rar are usually the correct file you want.
Sometimes you download a movie and you get a folder full of 30-60 files and you don't know what to do with them. If you were like me, you dumped them in the recycle bin and went back to the drawing baord. But all you do once WinRAR is installed is select all the .rar files, right click, choose extract, pick a location such as the desktop and presto, there's your complete file put together.
Hope this helps.
If anyone else has any hints or guides, please add them! |

If you donwload a file and it won't play, or something, try downloading a copy of Gspot Codec Information Appliance
You open the file in this program and it will tell you if you need to find a new codec to play the file, then all you have to do is run a quick Google search. ( This sounds complicated, but it's saved me a lot of hassles) |
