Thanks again guys. I know, I know, my question just KEEP coming, lol.

Who does the CBC go to? Is it for the school? The education board? To get your visa?

I know I don't NEED it to get my F-4, so I'm wondering what it is for.

I got my F4 visa last month and did not need a criminal background check. However to get hired for a position, I was told you MUST have at least a state level background check. I was able to get mine from the State Bureau of Investigation (NC) and then get it apostilled by the Secretary of State.

Hey 'silence163,' sorry I haven't written enough posts to private message yet, heh. Can I ask you if the position you are talking about is for a public school or a hakwon? And if you [or anyone else!!] know if I need a state level CBC for a hakwon. I don't want to send them the wrong one and then get ANOTHER one done.

I was referring to public schools, like GEPIK/EPIK. They will require it as part of your application for a position. For a hagwon position, I'm not sure of that, but can only assume that you'd need if for them too. I don't think that it would hurt to get it done just in case. It takes a couple of weeks to process and less than around $40 to get it. Last thing you'd want to do is get an offer and then have to wait for a background check to be done.

I asked the sheriff's office how to have a state one done, and she simply sen me to the Florida department of law enforcement's website. But their background checks are simply internet checks. It's very frustrating, because it shows I have no record, but it's not a REAL check that I can have apostled and submitted.

I'm not familiar with Florida, but I found this site: https://www2.fdle.state.fl.us/cchinet/

You'd have to mail in your request. I did the same for NC. I went to the sherriff's office to get my fingerprinting done. There's a standard federal fingerprint form that they use. For NC, I sent in my request, fingerprint and fee and within a week or so, I got my certified (notarized) background check.

Then I sent in my certified background check to the NC Secretary of State to get apostilled.

Hope this helps.

Fantastic! In fact, when I was at the Sheriff's office, I saw two people getting fingerprinting things done and I wonder if that's what they were doing...thanks so much for the help.
