I accepted a job today that wants me to start on February 19th. I am sending my documents tomorrow (Fed Ex) to start the visa process but I had a vacation planned for the 10-17. This would be the time I need to get my visa processed wouldn't it? Apparently Toronto consulate is notoriously slow. Looks like I have to cancel my vacation - or does it? Any advice or past experiences you can think of? Or am I totally overestimating how long the visa will take? Any input would be great.
Thanks. |

Perhaps one should learn what a "Job Related" forum is. |

You should be fine as long as you get your documents back and can get your visa organised before you leave. Once they issue your visa, I think you have up to a month to enter Korea for it to remain valid. |

It's probably not going to be great timing... you should have your visa issuance number before you go, but you need to leave your actual passport at the consulate to get the visa... and that takes five to 10 days (my last one in TO took seven).
I wonder if there's any way to do it in the UAE? There's an embassy in Abu Dhabi, and that would be an easy trip from Dubai. I'd probably contact the Toronto consulate and/or the embassay in Abu Dhabi to see if there's any way to get your visa there. |

Mailing delays....
Same thing with the Montreal consulate and other places that process visas.
If you want your vacation...go to Toronto in person, it will make things go a lot faster. |

Thanks for the helpful advice. I went in to the consulate today to get all my stuff stamped and it took under 10 minutes, including the line up! They really are quick.
I ended up taking another job that starts in March - the timing worked out a little better. Phew! |
