It doesn't take an expert to know that fan death is a myth. It just takes some common sense.

Fan death has been reported on TV and in the print and online news. Here's just one example, and you can find many more if you look:

This is why Koreans believe in fan death... because it gets reported on TV and in the print media.

I remember that there was an episode of Mythbusters where they tested to see if you could be decapitated by a ceiling fan. I can't remember why but they had the dummy head at fan level on a track that moved towards the fan blade (maybe to simulate someone on a ladder or stool falling towards the fan). They found that even the most powerful ceiling fan couldn't decapitate the dummy but did cut its throat. In the end they build a steal bladed fan and hooked it up to a lawnmower engine. That chopped up the flesh on the dummy but didn't actually decapitate it either.

You can find it on YouTube.

Because you're operating under the delusion that you know what you're talking about and feel compelled to assert than wherever possible?

Under scientific scrutiny, gravity is real. Fan death is NOT.

Sure, I'll take the expert analysis of an English teacher. Rolling Eyes

How come fan deaths have NEVER been posted in the newspapers or spoken about on Korean TV?

They have been - it's just decreased in the past few years.

Don't you have anything better to do than put words in my mouth? Since when is it possible to make accurate assumptions about someone judging by their posts on a forum?

So if you are a science major and you say it could happen then it must be true? Well I have a higher science degree ...and I say it can't happen. Do I win?

I win.

1) Ever stick your head out of a car? Did you die? How come dogs aren't dropping out of cars dead? They like sticking their heads out the window:)

2) Ever go swimming? I bet the water cools off your body way faster than a fan.

3) The last argument is the best. Fans rip apart O2 and produces CO2 and you die. I'm pretty sure a human produces more CO2. In fact I'm 100% sure of it. Korean families can sleep 4 or 5 to a room, but they live...how is that possible?

Fan death =teh stoopid

I take it you didn't read the whole conversation. I'm not arguing that fan death is possible. I'm arguing that the Ask A Korean blog about it is not scientific. That it, and fan death, are BS and anyone with an elementary education in even general science should be able to see the flaws in the article and the fact that it's crap.
