Why did they ban Avatar movie?

1. Because Avatar is currently killing Chinese movies and Confucius which will be open soon at Chinese cinemas.

2. Nabi alien race story is looking extremely like current situation with Tibet and East Turkestan as well as rural locals who lost their lands to property developers.

I thought that while watching the film. It's an anti-imperialistic film, much like Star Wars. Resistance by a minority culture facing annihilation by the Empire resonates in many parts of China where the government has policies which result in the Han Chinese in effect dominating local peoples.

I think Avatar's impact on Chinese movies is the primary motivator. After all, they didn't ban Avatar entirely, they only banned it from normal theatres. 3D Avatar is still availible for showing. If their reason was truly based on Avatar being anti-imperalistic -- or anything else about the content of the movie itself -- not only would it be banned from 3D theatres as well, but it probably never would have been allowed in China in the first place.

Sound reasoning.

China had similar concerns after TITANIC.... apparantly, James Cameron movies trigger the same thing in Asians as Chinese food does in Americans....

An hour after youve finished the movie, you want to see it again. Box Office Nirvannah for the director, box office curse for Eastern Cinema producers.... Sad
