Going to be doing some cooking this weekend and could do with getting my hands on some. Haven't seen any in my local shop. Has anyone here bought some in Korea? |

don't you need buttermilk to make Creme fraiche. Wouldn't that be just as hard to find as the Creme fraiche itself? Not trying to be obnoxious but we do live in Korea guys not the most diverse supermarkets... |

You don't need buttermilk. Sour cream also does the trick.
Question: What's the differences among buttermilk, sour cream and creme fraiche.
Answer: Fat content
Buttermilk has the least fat, and creme fraiche has the most (leaving sour cream in the middle).
Add some sour cream to some heavy cream and let it sit. |

You can make buttermilk. It's easier than making creme fraiche. |

I know this is a lame reply, but I've been buying and eating this plain yogurt from Top Mart, it's labeled as "home made" and it tastes pretty similar to Creme Fraiche to be honest and has a similar texture. It's thick, it's not like those other runny yogurts they have here. I've been wanting to try dipping strawberries in it really bad. It may be alright as an interesting substitute until you find or make some creme fraiche.
It's Yoplait and it says "Home-made Style" then "Classic" in Cursive and under classic it says "Plain". |
