Just like a B-52 that ran out of fuel and lost gliding speed and dropped like a rock
Liberals congratulate themselves on creativity but this whole effort was built to counter Right talk radio, which would make this qction wholly reactionary and uncreative This is as shameful as the John Kerry creation
I wonder who they will stiff on the bankruptcy |

This failed because liberals are no where near as interested in this kind of thing as conservatives are. It's really that simple. Just compare the ratings of guys like Keith Olbermann (the closest the left really has to a Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck), and you'll see this is true. |

At least liberals absolutely crush conservatives in entertainment. TDS, Colbert, stand-ups, Oprah....Hollywood.... |

Well comedy is usually actually about true things. This is one reason why The Daily Show is funny, it simply points out political stupidity. You can also argue Hollywood stories are popular because they reflect real life or reflect how people believe it should be. Maybe Republicans don't like the anti-imperialism message of Avatar, but maybe it's popular because it reflects common ideals.
Air America played an important part in helping Franken eventually get his Senate seat, Maddow was also on Air America and has consequently become very popular on MSNBC.
But my favourite spin-off is The Young Turks, who used to do the morning show. You can watch their streaming webcast here - http://www.theyoungturks.com/. Cenq (the host) is very funny and they're real progressives. |

Liberal talk radio fails because....<drum roll.....> Americans don't want to listen to that crap. Wake up and smell the coffee liberals. Your voice, opinions, and point of views are not popular.
Oh snap! I said it. |

Liberal talk radio fails because liberals don't like that kind of rubbish anywhere near as much as conservatives do. It's pretty much that simple. Liberals are more inclined towards witty satire than the angry ranting that seemingly draws conservative attention so easily. That's why programs like the Daily Show and Colbert Report do so well, while lacking any real conservative analogue. We have our "political entertainment," and you have yours. Enjoy it, because we are. |

Witty satire? No they are stupid morons. Yeah they make a "witty" (?) comment which makes the liberal sissy audience member slap their knee in laughter but it's devoid of in-depth analysis and critical thinking. |

Spot on mate, bloody spot on.
90% of normal Americans want low taxes. (Liberals LOVE redistributing wealth!)
90% of normal Americans don't like repeat offenders. They like DEAD offenders. (liberals LOVE to nurture criminals!)
90% of normal Americans will buy whichever carmaker is best. (liberals LOVE to invest billions of taxpayer dollars in "alternative energy") |

I think these statistics may be made up.
Anyway, the supposedly 'liberal' Democratic party holds a large majority in polls, so you can't really argue there isn't a base there. Conservatives seem to prefer to walk in lock-step. An example is actually your use of 'normal Americans' Kimbop. You think anyone with a liberal point of view isn't really American - just like the higest rated Conservative talk show hosts, Beck and Limbaugh.

Thanks for your opinion on the subject, but you're just confirming exactly what I said. A conservative like you sees a liberal like Mr. Colbert engaging in witty satire and whines about them being stupid morons. A liberal like me sees a conservative like Mr. Beck angrily ranting and dismisses them as angry fools. Of course we don't like entertainment custom-tailored to the other side of things.

There's a substantial amount of analysis and critical thinking on shows like the Colbert Report, which is quite interesting given it's a comedy show. But I don't expect you to grasp it. It's not for you, just like rubbish like Glenn Beck isn't for me. I'll never understand what you see in angry ranting from Mr. Limbaugh, and you'll always furrow your brow in a vain attempt to understand what's so funny and salient about Mr. Colberts representation of our politics. That's life.
Frankly, the nonsense that's been coming out of the conservative mouth has proven my point pretty well. Olive, pkang, kimbab, these could all be people calling in to conservative talk radio to have their say. "Damn these liberals and their not wanting to kill their fellow men. Don't they know 90% of Americans want criminals to die?" "The Colbert Report is stupid rubbish lacking in any real critical thinking. Not at all like you Mr. Beck." It just goes on and on, and it's sad. |

That's a good point... it's strange that Conservatives don't view Limbaugh/Beck as entertainment, although it clearly is. Beck has called himself a rodeo clown and Limbaugh always mentions doing things purely to get a reaction from the MSM. Instead the audiences see it simply as unbiased news. Maybe Liberals just don't seek entertained from news unless it's specifically marketed as comedy. |

Of course they see it as unbiased news. Look at Olive's post; he complained about a lack of in-depth analysis and critical thinking in shows like the Colbert Report and Daily Show, which implies there is real in-depth analysis and critical thinking on Limbaugh and Beck. He thinks its news. When Glenn Beck talks about how he's worried Scott Brown might kill an intern, Olive thinks it's good in depth analysis. When Beck says Obama's fast response with regards to Haiti's humanitarian disaster is dividing the country, Olive nods his head sagely and sees a pearl of wisdom. When Beck douses a guy in fake gasoline and says, "This is what Obama is doing to America," Olive clasps his chin in his hand and thinks, "That's a good point."
No idea what to say in response to that. |
