And the core of the issue is that news isn't (and shouldn't be) entertainment?

Wow Foxy they should give you an award for the amount of assumptions you make. I don't listen to any of the people you wrote that I listen to so it is all a strawman. I listen to Michael Savage fro my news analaysis. Him and only him.

Do Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck have in-depth analysis and critical thinking on their shows? If not, then lacking it is nothing unique to liberal entertainment and your point was entirely deceptive. If so, then why don't you watch them?

Deceptive? Well you wrote things about me in terms of who I watch and never retracted.
I don't watch or listen to them because Savage is so much better.

So you do think they have in-depth analysis and critical thinking on their programs? Then my original characterization of you as an individual who thinks just that stands, and your complaint about said characterization is invalidated. I'm not retracting because said characterization is true: you think these men engage in in-depth analysis and critical thinking.

When Glenn Beck talks about how he's worried Scott Brown might kill an intern, Olive thinks it's good in depth analysis.

That is what you wrote so I'd like to know where I ever asserted that I believed that it is good in depth analysis?

Much like certain other conservatives on the forum, you need to learn the difference between literal statements and rhetorical devices. If you can't differentiate these two things, you're not intelligent enough to bother with. If you can differentiate these two things, you have no basis for complaint. Which is it?

I wish I could remember the statistic, but a couple of months ago someone reported that a remarkable number of conservatives didn't realize Stephen Colbert was doing satire.

I remember that article. Something along the lines of a poll asking if Stephen Colbert was engaging in satire. Liberals said yes, conservatives said no.

I think these statistics may be made up.

Anyway, the supposedly 'liberal' Democratic party holds a large majority in polls, so you can't really argue there isn't a base there. Conservatives seem to prefer to walk in lock-step. An example is actually your use of 'normal Americans' Kimbop. You think anyone with a liberal point of view isn't really American - just like the higest rated Conservative talk show hosts, Beck and Limbaugh.

The Democratic party was voted in because Bush is a crappy speech-talker, Iraq, and the economy. Millions of morons voted for the great handsome messiah (obama) because Bush is a "poop-head" and Americans were sick of him. Facts remain: The majority of Americans are NOT liberal-socialist-commie-taxloving Europeans:

Nice dodge Foxy. You can now explain to us how it is that you were engaging in a rhetorical device by your incorrect statement. You were caught with your pants down and now back peddle inissting that .....well I really didn't mean that. Typical jerk-off liberal.

So you're saying you don't understand the rhetorical device in question? Is that what you're saying? Because if you say you don't understand it, I'll believe you. I'll even apologize for speaking over your head. To be clear, the only response I'm remotely interested in from you is, "Yes I understood it," or, "No I didn't understand it." No bullshit, no whining, nothing but a simple answer to a simple question.

The edit you added in after I had all ready responded to your post makes it sound like the answer is that you didn't understand it, but for clarity, why not answer properly?

Here's another one:

I'll never understand what you see in angry ranting from Mr. Limbaugh, and you'll always furrow your brow in a vain attempt to understand what's so funny and salient about Mr. Colberts representation of our politics.

--> Don't listen to him either.

Do you understand the rhetorical device being used or not, Olive? Yes or no?

Still another:

Look at Olive's post; he complained about a lack of in-depth analysis and critical thinking in shows like the Colbert Report and Daily Show, which implies there is real in-depth analysis and critical thinking on Limbaugh and Beck.

--> It doesn't imply that....only to your confused mind it does.
