Has anyone here ever shipped stuff via container to NZ.

Any recommendation or advice is appreciated.

I was told that door to door is best because the customs stuff is all dealt with by the company.

If you find out would really want some info too. Looking at heading back in a year or two. Wouldn't need a whole container tho

All the local couriers (taekbae companies) will ship overseas.

You may want to search for NZ companies - they might be able to cut you a deal. Make some money on the way home, so they don't go home with an empty container, so to speak.

And yes, customs is a heck of a lot easier using a door-to-door service. I did that when I moved here 9+ years ago.

We shipped a 20ft container from Anyang to Christchurch for $4k NZD.
This was a door to door packed service, which included all the boxes, bubble wrap etc. I will try and track down the paper work if you are interested.

Go door to door.

Using a port means the port authority can charge you fees for holding your furniture, and you have little control over how long that will happen, or what they will charge. I have heard horror stories about this.

Also going to port means you still have to pay from port to door, and you will find that is expensive.

I used Allied from Florida to NZ and was happy with their service.

I'm trying to imagine the size. When was this? I'm trying to decide if it's better to buy new stuff or ship our stuff. It sounds like it's cheaper to ship.
