Theres a rock festival coming to Korea in July of 2010. The one in 09 was a 3 day event. I attended day 1. I think the ticket price for the one day was about $75 but it was well worth it. People wanting to stay there for the entire event were given the opportunity to bring a tent and camp out around the area. (at an additional LOW cost)
Heres the Line-up that played...

Now another festival is being planned for this year, once again, in July. No line-up has been plugged yet and the festival is in the early planning stages but if you want to follow it in the future, check out :

I'll be posting more as information becomes available...

Looking forward to seeing the lineup. Last time was awesome. We stayed in a love motel in one of the towns nearby. The festival ran buses for free every day. Our friends who went all three days and camped were a bit miserable. Drunks and soundchecks don't make for a good sleeping environment.

It's kinda funny. I just turned 50 a few weeks ago and people look at me like I'm no longer allowed to be a rocker...like being one is exclusive to younger people.. I'm like "Dude, age is an attitude, not a number". How old are the Rolling Stones?? lol

This kind of lineup confirmation this early is pretty much unheard of for Korean music festivals. Very Happy Nice to see them getting it together so quickly.

The buzzards are circling Pentaport, for sure. The dust has settled from the split/tiff last year, and it's clear who the winner was. Kompetition at its finest, I suppose.

Yeah, Deftones were awesome last year but honestly they should have just called it the Deftones Festival because they were the only band anyone cared about seeing. And the only reason I went was because I got free tickets. I wonder if anyone actually bought those expensive-ass tickets or if they had to just give them all away.

I can't recommend Jisan enough. I had a blast. I don't know about the camping situation but I stayed at a nearby resort and the whole thing was a blast. No price gouging, good food, good drinks, music was top notch. I have had some great times in korea but I have to say this was tops for me

PS- I know this girl who works for some international department in the government... and is in charge of planning an upcoming Tom Jones concert in Seoul. Sounds like she can hook up some tickets... maybe even backstage, ha ha! How funny and random is that gonna be? Tom Jones in Seoul... can't wait.

About three weeks before the actual date promoters knew they were in big, big trouble. Instead of being gracious losers the decision was made to try and draw people from Jisan by giving away free tickets, which helped them save face in some distorted way. Rolling Eyes

There is no line-up at this time. It's way too early to say. The dates are 30 and 31 July and 1 August. (Fri-Sun) Thats all thats posted right now. But that link will take you to the line-up once it's established. The 2009 link was provided to show you who was here. Be patient.

Ah, that explains it. They must have given out a TON of those free tickets because I know a lot of people who went and not one of them actually paid.

Hopefully if they have Pentaport this year, they will abandon the "ddeokbokki stand strategy" and have it on a different weekend from Jisan.

Ddeokbokki stand strategy....I like it.

Yeah, there was some real bad blood between the two parties involved...friends on the inside said that it got really ugly towards the end. I even heard that people involved with Pentaport were trying to get visas blocked for Jisan performers, etc.

Of course, this is all second-hand info...who knows if it ever got that bad.
