Yes, it may happen. You may need to give it in order someway or have groups share one they don't tell other people. Kids like to throw paper and erasers in class, and after a while the whole class eventually rats out the one who started it.
You can't eliminate it, but you can minimize that kind of stuff. |

Yeah, I may try giving out one address for the group, but if I encounter problems, then I may make everyone sign up individually. Either way, I'm sure I can get work something out. Just glad to be able to figure out a way to save some time, energy, and paper!
Thanks again! |

In Korea, most people who need this kind of service to upload and store files start a "cafe" on daum. You should just get your students to set up a "cafe".
They are very easy to use once they are set up. And probably all of your students already have daum ID and passwords. |

Another possibility, and though my Korean is passable, I'd prefer to have everything in English, both for me to manage and setup things, and also as another means of having my students use 'real world' English. |

CC,
I give out the email addresses / sign up, all students. Very easy to do in gmail. just put your class [email protected] The students think they are using their own email address to sign in but really are using the shared one (gmail ignores everything between the + and @
Sue Waters explains it clearly here - she has lots of great tech tips and I'd recommend her twitter. http://theedublogger.com/2008/07/24/creating-student-accounts-using-one-gmail-account/
Also, for strictly file sharing, you might consider mediafire. Set it up with a public address and everyone can access with the same id/pw. www.box.net is the same thing but more secure. But it has only 1Gb free.
www.mail.com is an easy place to create multiple/shared email accounts.
Cheers,
DD

DD,
I can see the advantage of using the [email protected] thing for the purpose outlined in the link you gave me, but I'm not so sure it would serve my purpose. If anything, I think it would make the students more likely to change the password, as they would be under the impression it's their own personal account...or am I missing something?
And again, the file sharing links are indeed helpful, but I could do the same thing with Dropbox. As I mentioned before, I'm trying to get around forcing students to make individual accounts, or me having to create +100 accounts for my students each semester.
I think I'll try the class / group e-mail thing, and see how that works. If some joker changes the password, I'll make the students sign up for g-mail individually. Using Google Docs to send me assignments will make it MUCH easier for me to collect assignments from individual classes (can simply download a group of docs into folders on my comp in one click), and will help me avoid downloading individual e-mail attachments.
Thanks for the suggestions though. If I ever decided to set up a student blog project, I'll keep the gmail hack in mind. |

| Is there a possibility of using Google Wave in the future as well? I do like how it facilitates live group interaction on-line amongst other things. It also has "drag and drop" file sharing and whatnot. Is anyone else familiar with it? I myself haven't toyed around with it too much, only because I haven't had much reason to at present. |
