The problem is that the wrong people are reproducing: Most people on this forum (who assumably are literate and not criminally prone), along with the western world's doctors, engineers, university grads, etc will produce 1.8 children per couple; while illiterate Nigerians/Ethiopians will reproduce at twice the rate. Furthermore, Canada's/Australia's/New Zealand's aboriginal peoples, who are all horribly underrepresented in University attendance and overrepresented in jails, reproduce faster than any other demographic within their respective countries. Aids stats are getting worse worldwide. In simple terms, demographically, the world is getting DUMBER every year. |
You are equating education with intelligence and those two things are not the same. Someone can be very intelligent while being relatively uneducated or even be very well educated while not actually being that smart. |
That's wonderful. I won't debate how "intelligent" Somalis or Eritreans are, (or other held-back, infrastructure-free civilizations) because it doesn't matter. Facts remain:

| Not to add fuel to anybody's eugenics fire, but there are a lot of remote First Nation's communities where the rates of FAS are probably pushing 100%, and where the average age of a first mother is in the early teens (I speak from experience, not from statistics). This leads to a lot of hand-wringing about 3rd world conditions in Canada and demands that the government should help, when it's not really the government's issue to solve. It's pretty brutal to witness first-hand, and these communities certainly have the highest birthrates in the country. |
Your experience closely mirrors the facts. Throw eugenics aside: demographic destiny prevails. |

| I personally do not see the point of abortion. There are plenty of birth controls available. If you choose to have sex and don't want kids... then either the woman and the man should be actively using such methods. |

They don't always work, first of all. Second, rape and health problems both can also create cause for abortions. Finally, sometimes -- and I know this is shocking -- people just plain make a mistake. |

| This condenses the issue nicely. Most pro-lifers have an issue with contraception as well. I get the theory, but C'mon. |

...and it's very unfortunate that they're allowed to make a follow-up mistake by having abortion. |

What's a mistake for you may not be one for someone else. Where does this sense of moral entitlement come from?! |

If you want to label me with a sense of moral entitlement because I hold all life sacred, I won't stop you. I'll think you silly and belligerent, but I won't stop you. |

I don't have problems with men and women having children as long as they pay for them. That being said...........
Look, I didn't go to the hospital to get my ballpouch cut open and my sperm vesicles cut on to pay for everyone else's screwups.
I would like to make it clear right here, right now, "I DON'T WANT TO BE THE BABY DADDY!!!" I don't want to pay for kids of my own and I for damn sure don't want to pay for other peoples' "babies." Damn it, ladies and gentlemen. Get your own genitals operated on or get an abortion, but whatever you do, PLEASE don't make me pay for your "accidents."

Label you? That was a general statement to anyone who thinks they can unequivocally decide what is right or wrong for everyone else.
And where do you come up with the absurd idea that you could stop me anyway? What would you do, hit the screen with the keyboard? A bit sanctimonious, isn't it?
The delusion of some people... |

Well... 1) Your comment was directed at a quote of mine. 2) Society decides what's right and wrong all the time. That's why we can't we have laws in the first place.

Yes, I meant I would physically prevent you from making any more comments; you're exactly right. I obviously wasn't using a rhetorical device. |

If you want to take it personally, well, haha, that's comical...
And it's not against the law everywhere. And should be legal everywhere.

Obviously. I mean, using it once is all awesome and great and stuff, but a rhetorical device twice in two sentences!?! Wow! Emphatic use of rhetoric, my friend! *high five*
And still, delusion reigns. |

The Christian Right Conservatives are usually tough on abortion and other issues like crime. But what if abortion could be a factor in reducing crime?
'Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything', by Steven D. Levitt and journalist Stephen J. Dubner speculate this correlation.
In short, 15-20 years after abortions were legalized and widely practiced in the USA, crime figures declined sharply. Likely because many of the women who had the abortions were from the lower end of the social spectrum, therefore they weren't giving birth to would-be hoodlums. |

| The taking of an innocent life (abortion) like this is murder 100% of the time. |
